The producer of the audiobook is an award-winning sound designer and composer. When he and his wife struggled with sleep apnea, he searched for an audio program that would help. "I mostly found cheap sound effects with repetitive, looping tones. Granted, my background makes me a little picky, but I found these programs more annoying that relaxing."
So he set out to record the best sounds he could find. The ocean waves, rain, thunder, streams and waterfalls are all original recordings.
Next, he experimented with tones. This program is the first to include arrangements of beautiful classical music. "I have produced over twenty experimental programs now and have had sleep doctors, patients, as well as my own friends and family members try them on. This current series of 'Relaxing Sounds' has been very well received and has been proven to be the most effective by the largest number of people."

Hey, it actually works!
I used this to relax while I was working, and it helped me concentrate better and kept stress from building up. I love that some of the chapters also include music that matches the emotion each one evokes.
I know it will even help me sleep better.

Really Glad I Found This!
Most of the sleep aid programs with natural sound effects found on Audible have some problem with them.
Very few have a decent length that lasts through the night.
Of those that do, they have sections that repeat. Sometimes minute after minute.
This program was obviously produced by a company that actually cares, or maybe as it says, a sound designer who needed the program for himself and his wife.
So high marks for an audiobook that really works!

Pure tranquility
To be up front, I love thunderstorms. And this one has been recorded just right. You probably have already heard the sample, so I don't need to describe it. But I love that it lasted all night. I found the musical tones in the background to be a bonus. But honestly, I will probably just listen to the sound effects as they rock me to sleep. Hypnotically beautiful!

Great for falling asleep
I use this to block out the sounds of traffic at my house. It’s like being in nature. Download it and I can take it with me everywhere even if I don’t have service.

It truly helps me relax.
I tried this one night when my mind just wouldn’t slow down, and wow, it really helped. The sounds are incredibly calming and consistent, with zero distractions. What stood out to me most was how intentional the audio felt, almost like it was gently guiding my body to unwind. It’s now become a staple in my nighttime routine. I even use it while meditating, and it adds such a peaceful layer. I’m genuinely enjoying it.

I've listened to all 20 Hours and it's legit
You really get 20 hours.
Actually you get ten chapters that are each 2 hours long.
I tried the first ten hours of the thunderstorm with the music therapy tones. (I guess they are themes from classical symphonies) Then I did the next ten hours without the music therapy.
They sound great with no problems or distractions.

Perfect ambience for sleeping!
I really enjoy the wonderful sounds of the soothing rain as well as the low distant thunder in the background.
It is amazing to me how relaxing and meditative it is to sleep with these sounds. I quickly fall asleep and stay asleep.
It is some of the best I have listened to by far, and I have tried a lot. I quickly fall asleep and stay asleep.
I have yet to try the music therapy yet due to the fact that I so enjoy just the rain and the distant thunder.

The Gorgeous Sounds Helped Me Fall Asleep
First there is a voice guide that gives you the typical, almost hypnotic instructions for drifting off. That only takes up a couple minutes, very short. Then you get just what the title says, ten hours of gorgeous sounds.
One thing the description did NOT say, is that the sounds don't loop.
I don't know about other people, but I cannot stand it when you hear the sounds loop over and over again.
It's as if a recording was made of a real thunderstorm.
Also, the music is just perfect. It isn't really classical music in the sense that it comes from a symphony or something, its more like rich tones, or like a symphony playing slowly underwater. Anyway, it flows nicely. Again like the title says, it's how I imagine music therapy.
You can also choose to listen to the sound effects by themselves. Sometimes I don't want to hear music or tones or whatever, so I'm really glad it gives me the option.
