About this listen

Opposites attract in this sexy, slow-burn romance, the next installment in A.M. Arthur's fan-favorite Clean Slate Ranch series.

Levi Peletier is settled—for now. With his life on the rodeo circuit reined in, he's content doing trick riding demos for tourists at Clean Slate Ranch and spending his off-hours with three finicky felines. It's a life he's grateful for, one that keeps his heart safe.

George Thompson couldn't be less like the ruggedly sexy Levi. A onetime figure skating star, he's hung up his skates to live in introverted anonymity in San Francisco. An effort to shake up his regular routine finds him at Thanksgiving dinner, dude ranch style, and he immediately falls in love with the gorgeous view—the wide-open spaces and big blue sky aren't bad, either.

The country cowboy and the stay-put city boy strike up an unlikely friendship that blossoms into something more. But getting attached is a bad idea. Because the open road is calling to Levi, and it's a call George can't imagine answering. When the past catches up to them, this odd couple will have to decide if a future together is worth fighting for.

enjoyed it

Would I listen to it again: yes ✔
Did the story keep me engaged: yes ✔
Was I invested in the characters: yes ✔

📖 Story comment: Good pace, interesting characters and a delightful romance. I really enjoyed Levi's character and his respect for George's limits. I liked that George was given the opportunity to flourish and find himself.
The magic of Clean Slate Ranch has done it again.

🎧 Narrator comment: I love Greg Boudreaux as a narrator. Every book he narrates is a master performance. He has a good range of characters so its easy to distinguish them from each other and has a way of subtly altering his tone so it's easy to distinguish a characters inner monologue from the standard dialog which is a real skill for a narrator. He has good cadence, inflections and intonations and he really knows how to bring characters and their story to life.

Clean Slate Ranch Series Magic!

Another amazing addition to the series. I can’t wait for the next installment, but I hope to hear more from Mac and Wesley. They were what started all this, and deserve a little more presence in the next one!

Going out with a Wimper

For the most part this series has been enjoyable. Hot cowboys and action, serious obstacles and difficulties. Then comes George. Poor little scared bunny rabbit George rarely leaves his apartment since he might see his shadow and have to rush back in to hide and cower. Hot Levi is inexplicably attracted to George and sets to wooing him with constant praise for "sharing his truth," holding him tight when he's terrified with the sight of a butterfly and buying him a trophy for having taken the bit step to using a toilet by himself. Seriously though, once a professional ice skater, George has never had a single sexual impulse and doesn't even know if he's straight or gay! (Give me a break!) The constant saccharine of this 'relationship was nauseating.' But then, they do sometimes take a break from comforting each other to play with Levi's kitty cats! Sadly, Levi's sexual fantasy of being topped by this 3-year-old never comes to pass. Will George ever grow a pair? Ugh..
