About this listen

Business is slow for M.Y.T.H., Inc., and its president, Bunny, is getting nervous that the company might not meet its quarterly goal. So when a job comes in that's worth an absurd amount of gold - and also happens to take them to Winslow, the most luxurious vacation resort in any dimension - the team jumps at the opportunity to recoup some cash and maybe catch some R&R.

Only, magician Skeeve has an unsettling feeling that this mission might be trickier than it seems. Someone in Winslow is messing with the magic lines and working hard to ensure that the M.Y.T.H. crew gets nowhere near the powerful relic that they've been hired to find. And as the mysterious manipulation turns deadly, Skeeve, Bunny, Aahz, and the rest of their partners find themselves in a race not only to finish the job, but also to escape paradise alive.

Disappointing

One of my favorite book series, and the narrator up to this point was spot on. After a few mins of attempting to listen to this book I was done. The narrator was dry and adds zero spark to the story.

An enjoyable addition to the Myth series

I enjoyed listening to this Myth novel. The characters felt authentic and I loved the narration. I really hope there will be further novels in this series.

Typicality good Myth book, BUT !!!

Performance is good, but QUITE different voices were used, with the 1st performer & it's VERY hard to tell who is speaking now :P And the main set of characters NEW voices ARE NOT as distinct as before + accents like 2 mob characters are COMPLETELY GONE !!!

ok

Not near as good as Asprin.
Could not even finish it. She made Skeeve into a sniffling coward who can't do magic.
The narrator sounded like a gelded soyboy. I could not listen without getting annoyed. I tried to give it a chance because I love the Myth Adventures and I only had 2 hours left. I just could not handle the torture anymore.

utterly annoying performance

typical myth inc story. different presenter. Which I had a nickle for every time he say 'Aahz said' or 'I said' etc. so I could gouge out my eardrums.

better but not quite

much better than her first solo Myth book. a little different that what had been but still something I will continue reading. I'm glad that it wasn't the disaster that Myth Quoted was.

Should have kept Noah Michael Levine as Narrator!

What did you love best about Robert Asprin's Myth-Fits?

Jody has done a great job at Keeping Robert Asprin's characters alive and in the spirit of the original.

What didn’t you like about Kyle McCarley’s performance?

All of the characters sound like they are whining in the book- he doesn't capture the essence of the characters like the previous narrator.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I couldn't. I love the stories, but honestly, the narrator was putting me off, so I could only listen in pieces.

Any additional comments?

Bring back Noah Michael Levine

They need to redo this book with Michael Levine.

People in this business who are professionals should know better than to change narrators in an established series. Especially with such inferior narrator. Now I can wait to see if they redo it with the proper narrator. They did that with a Harry Dresden book (much to my relief). Personally I'd rather wait months while they work out whatever problem they are having with the narrator. Maybe this narrator was good on another series, but not this one. Narrators help to put the character in the characters. So when you change narrators in an established series it changes the characters.

Long time fans should give it a chance!

As one fan who has listened to all and invested his money in this series, I'll say that I'm all in.
Dragon Poker jokes aside though, it was rough going through an abrupt change of narrators as pointed out by other reviews of this title. We all have enjoyed Noah Micheal Levine's renditions of the beloved cast and the upbeat delivery and the ad lib of his performances. Kyle McCarley must be given a chance to shine as well. I found his performance to be just as entertaining and his take of the cast, a pleasant change as well. My only complaint of the over all performance was the narrative overtone at times sounded over the top sarcastic which would make it harder to listen to to a fan who looks for the lighter side of the comedy tone that this book is supposed to portray. Jody Lynn Nye's first solo foray into the Myth adventure universe keeps to the heart of the series that Robert Asprin started. Her earlier Myth works along side the late author, as well as this latest collaboration, remains faithful to the series.I'm looking forward to the next book!
