About this listen

This is a Lesbian romantic suspense with humor and a twist of magic. Virginia, an author with abandonment issues insists nothing, not even love, can save Tori who is of unsound mind and destined to become homeless forever. What happens will surprise everyone!

Novelist Virginia Lopez bases her characters on real people who subsequently suffer the same fate as those in her manuscripts. Her bad karma has run amok and so she vows never to use someone she cares about as a protagonist again. But Tori Laurengo is forlorn at best. What harm could Virginia's words and rotten luck cause the disheveled woman who talks to herself?

Tori is homeless until a stranger offers her a place to stay at a luxurious apartment building in California. There, the socially awkward woman falls madly in love with Virginia unaware that she was chosen to be the doomed character in the author's latest novel Round Trip.

This was definitely a fun listen. It has everything from love to hate and all the crazy in between. I couldn’t even begin to guess how it would end, but I listened straight through. Worthy of the credit.

Great debut

Fun ride right from the beginning. As soon as I thought I knew what was coming next, I was surprised. Love story and a mystery all in one. Very enjoyable! Was sad it was over

This way was a very engaging book. It has great twist and turns. It’s well written, covering mental health issues, racism, as well as violence against people who are trans. The story isn’t dramatic however it’s not a comedy. It does keep you guessing and predicting what’s really going on!!

Great engaging listen with a great twist.

I prematurely figure out a stories path before it unravels but this book had me fooled. amazing ! a lot of twists and turns kept me guessing. very enjoyable. I also love when authors have a dedication and put an "Easter egg" for that person! well done! looking forward to more from this author.

This is a unique sapphic story about two women with mental issues and yet, it was fun and entertaining. I listened to it from beginning to end without stopping. There's bits of magical realism, detective story, suspense thriller and romance in this novel told through the eyes and minds of unreliable narrators. Speaking of narrators, Ella Star knocked this one of a kind story out of the park. This is the kind of novel you can read or listen to over and over and pick up more each time. I will be listening to it again soon.

Wow, what a trip!

Wow. This book was fantastic from beginning to end. I loved everything about this story. The flaws in each character kept me engaged and guessing what was going to happen next. I loved that it didn't follow the prescribed order of most lesbian romance/suspense novels.
I absolutely loved how the relatability of each character and how their growth was accompanied with setbacks. And what a Master Class on how inclusivity can elevate the story. This is in my top 3 of the year, only behind Tapestry of the Heart and my favorite of the year, Strange Attractors!! Well done.

Just wow. This was a crazy, weird, beautifully comedic story and I loved every second of it!
Dealing with mental illness is not easy and I liked how it was handled.
Loved all the trans representation as well.
It reads like a psychological thriller but didn't feel like one, Definitely a unique book with great writing and funny, loveable characters.
I would highly recommend for everyone
