Publisher's summary

Across the country women are being murdered by a killer who leaves no evidence, no fatal wounds, no signs of struggle, and no clues to a motive. They are, truly, perfect crimes. In fact, the only thing that links the victims is the man they all knew: Jack Reacher.

Critic reviews

“Reacher is one of the more interesting suspense heroes to come along in a while.” (San Antonio Express News)

“Jack Reacher, the wandering folk hero of Child’s superb line of thrillers faces a baffling puzzle in his latest adventure…a brain-teasing puzzle that gets put together piece by fascinating piece...and a central character with Robin Hood-like integrity and an engagingly eccentric approach to life.” (Publishers Weekly)

“Deeply satisfying...plan to stay up long past bedtime and do some serious hyperventilating toward the end.” (Kirkus Reviews)

Outstandingly Good!

Would you consider the audio edition of Running Blind to be better than the print version?

Although I have no intention of reading the print version, I would say yes.

What did you like best about this story?

It was the most mesmerizing mystery book I think I have ever heard. At least once I overlooked the major error it contained.

Which scene was your favorite?

They were all competing for the honor of my favorite & added to the mysterious plot I didn't even come close to figuring out even right up to the end. The book held my attention through out & I was sitting on the edge of my bed. Actually, I fell off a few times. But I got right back up & on.

Any additional comments?

Way to go Childs & McClain. And I promise not to tell anyone the only mistake which was a real blooper was that no one can be hypnotized to do anything they do not want to do. Like taking all their clothes off or blank, blank, blank that would definately & purposely end thier life. So as a certified Hynotherapist, I will over look this mistake just becasue the story line was so great & of course it was fiction. But it sure didn't help hynosis as a therapy tool. Shame on you Child.

Another complex plot with lots of twists & mystery

The FBI ends up being the bad guys in this one, because they abuse their power, and trap Reacher into helping them. Then after he does their work for them, they try to threaten him into some unfair agreements, but our Jack is much smarter! I was smiling big when he out-talked their pushy threats.

Again there are at least three stories going on here, and Reacher is stuck in the middle. All the police/FBI investigation stuff is wonderful; some clues will jump out at you and make you wonder, but others will slip right on by. The narration is great and adds a lot to the enjoyable experience.

Furthermore, Reacher is in a quandary here. He has won the love of his life, but isn't sure about the life he loves. What to do, what to do? He has some decisions to make, and they are toughies. The very things that make him so desirable also make him unattainable. We can probably guess what he does since there are a dozen more books following this one, but either choice leaves us, and him, sad.

This has been a great series so far, and Reacher is a wonderful character. Another winner.

Buy the book!

Would you listen to Running Blind again? Why?

Nope. Not for a minute. If it wasn't for being a Jack Reacher fan I would have returned this book before the end of the second chapter. I had two issues with the performance by J. McClain: 1) he chose a whiny, nasal, irritating voice for one of the main supporting characters which made it horrid to listen to for any length of time. 2) you would have thought that Lee Child wrote almost all the dialogue for the secondary characters in ALL CAPS. THEY SHOUTED THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE BOOK. I wish I had read this instead, it would have saved me a headache.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Johnathan McClain?

I'm a Scott Brick fan, so probably him.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

As stated above, my most extreme reaction was the desire to turn off this book and read it instead...

Narrator was great. I did figure out the whodunit bit early, but nevertheless a great story too.

Shocking discovery!! Love Reacher and Lee Child!! Great details. They want 6 more words but I’ve gotten as excited as I can.

Love the problem solving skills.

Performance was great. The story was fun to figure out. The result was clever. I have to wonder about my blood pressure when it comes to perfect timing. .. Such a close call.

Not bad but not the best Reacher book so far

Would you consider the audio edition of Running Blind to be better than the print version?

Yes, easier to follow the characters and picture them mentally

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes

What aspect of Jonathan McClain’s performance would you have changed?

He's OK, but Dick Hill is the best voice for Reacher.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Action/Thriller

Great Series

This is just a very good series. The characters are interesting and Child always comes up with different and interesting plots. I always look forward to the next in the series and have yet to find them repetitious or dull. I am really enjoying the series and will finish it for sure unless something drastic happens.
