About this listen

Across the country women are being murdered by a killer who leaves no evidence, no fatal wounds, no signs of struggle, and no clues to a motive. They are, truly, perfect crimes. In fact, the only thing that links the victims is the man they all knew: Jack Reacher.

Critic reviews

“Reacher is one of the more interesting suspense heroes to come along in a while.” (San Antonio Express News)

“Jack Reacher, the wandering folk hero of Child’s superb line of thrillers faces a baffling puzzle in his latest adventure…a brain-teasing puzzle that gets put together piece by fascinating piece...and a central character with Robin Hood-like integrity and an engagingly eccentric approach to life.” (Publishers Weekly)

“Deeply satisfying...plan to stay up long past bedtime and do some serious hyperventilating toward the end.” (Kirkus Reviews)

He's no Dick Hill

Having started my Reacher stories with Dick Hill as the narrator, I couldn't get over the difference in the narrator's style. Dick Hill so accurately captures Reacher's intense masculinity that this story was just mediocre for me. If you start with this narrator and then move on to Dick Hill you won't be so distracted and you will be able to enjoy all the books.

I missed this one.

I’m a Jack Reacher fan and enjoy Lee Child’s books. I tend to listen to “book series” in order. Somehow I missed this book. This book is different than most of the Jack Reacher series. In this book he is not as independent than most of the others. I actually found it interesting. I did not enjoy the narrator performance. His main narrative was ok, but some of his “other” voices are a bit irritating.

He does do an excellent job portraying most of the FBI agents as hateful, annoying, and petty. So much so, it affects the believability of the story. I can say I grew to hate most of the those characters.

Overall I enjoyed the story and glad I happen upon it. It’s like seeing a episode of one of your favorite tv shows you never saw before.

Definitely worth the time.

As always, another great journey with Jack Reacher. I found it easy to follow from beginning to end.

Great listen all the way through.

Lee Child is one of my favorite authors. His Reacher series are great for those who like Heroes and action. Jonathan McClain is a great narrator. His voice is smooth and it keeps your attention.

Great Series - too bad he changed his narrator

If you could sum up Running Blind in three words, what would they be?

hits the spot

Any additional comments?

There's something in this violent, smart, simple, vigilantly-under-control character (Reacher) that hits the right balance of righteousness, adventure, mystery, and must importantly, reality. Reachers ramblings again reel us in and keep us wondering whether this time he's gone too far this time. Best read from first book on, I'm on the 7th and have no reason to stop.

Details not addressed

Good Book!
However, while the budget issues and need to not appear duplicite in covering the death of a rouge agent explain why they didn't want to pay Reacher, there should have been some mention of the remaining ladies that were hypnotized by him in his defense.

Typical Jack Reacher

This is the 4th Jack Reacher book....right? Well in my humble opinion if you read/listen to one then you've heard them all. Don't get me wrong I do enjoy "A-Team" like feel that Mr. Child writes but it gets worn out over time.

Beware of random packages delivered!

I found this book very interesting and captivating except for the voice of the narrator for Blake and Lamar. I could not get past his scratchy interpretation of the 2 FBI agents. It started grinding on me and it was very difficult to follow when those 2 characters were in the majority of the book. Aside from that the book held me captive and was full of twists and turns until the end.
