About this listen

Who is Audrey Hoedemaker? It's a question her sister Maureen has heard more times than she can count, and she doesn't know what the short answer would be. Little sister, troubled teen, backpacker, musical theatre coach, con artist, childcare worker. Murderer.

A tragic, traumatic childhood casts a long shadow on the Hoedemaker sisters. Maureen has worked hard to move beyond the violence of the past and build a good, honest life for herself. Audrey, however, just can't seem to do the same, careening from one state of chaos to another.

Maureen loves her sister, but when Audrey's criminal past catches up to them both, she will have to make some difficult decisions about the limits of family loyalty - and just how far sisters are willing to go to protect each other...

Great narrator and unexpected twists and turns, easy to listen and did so quickly because I wanted to see what was going to happen!

First book by this author but won't be my last. Loved everything about this audible book, including the narration. You won't be disappointed, and wow, what an ending!

Wonderful!

Perfect tension for a devastating and too often unspoken human tragedy. I’ll look for more from this author.

After hours and hours of drawing us online, we’re left with a flat, unsatisfactory ending. Story line proved to be ok, but after such a long listen, to leave the listener almost in mid-sentence at the end, left me upset I’d wasted my time (and Audible credit) on the book. I don’t need a Mary Poppins type ending, by any stretch. Just some kind of ending !
Others may like it, not me.

Seriously, that was the ending?

I enjoyed the story. The narrator was engaging and her voice very soothing with great inflection. After a while, I was wondering where this was going, when were they going to get to the point. Oh boy. Did they tie it up! The ending is worth listening for all those hours.

Nice finish!

Pretty good story, mild character development, easy to pick up and put back down, kept me interested until the last chapter. There’s no real wrapup or ending to the story.

Good read with a not so good ending.

Great plot. Interesting characters. Subtle foreshadowing. Pleasant narration. Recommend for intriguing listen. Psychological analysis is compelling.

Great Characterization

I’m not going to spoil the plot but I must say that this story wasn’t what I expected. I am so glad I finished the book. The twist at the end was well worth it. Yet at times I wanted to stop the book simply because it was difficult to hear some of the things, the main character went through. But again I am so glad I finish this book. It is well written and I do not know if this is a true story but if it is all I can say is wow.!
