Ever wanted to be in the mind of a Schizophrenic?

Amy Perez definitely shows off her writing skills and history of psychology in Schizophrenic: Episode Series. At first I was confused until I realized the book is from a first person perspective. I truly felt empathy for the subject.

John Campagna’s performance was excellent and helpful with all the intricate nuances weaved through the book.

I have definitely become more aware of those who suffer mental illness. It brings the diagnosis to a whole other level. I wish this book was required reading for all public servants who interact with the public. Thank you Amy!

I was given a free copy of this audiobook in exchange for my unbiased review.

"I don't inhale, though."

Two men, Gary and Andrew, inside a State high security mental institution; one cannot understand why he is there and wants only to be allowed to go home to his wife and children, the other a mass murderer and cannibal. Their days are viewed and perspectives related through randomly alternating first person monologues, drawing the reader into the confused and often horrifying internal state of mind of both men. Simply expressed and easy to read, the book is uncomfortable to digest especially as it is based on true events.

Narration is by John Campagna. His voice has a pleasant timbre but, despite good modulation, retains a slightly wooden presentation with overlong delays between some scenes. As the story proggresses, however, this becomes less noticeable and the reading feels increasingly appropriate. One major editing glitch occures, however, when scene 8 of episode 9 is repeated in it's entirety in scene 9 - about one and one half minutes.

My thanks to the rights holder of Schizophrenic Episode, who, at my request freely gifted me with a complimentary copy. This book made for fascinating reading.

Fascinating

Informative and interesting.

An eye-opening dive into what life with schizophrenia is like. Since this audiobook plunges us directly into a first-person perspective, we see the ups and downs and it makes it a lot easier to really understand all that goes into this mental illness.

Narration went well with the material.

Couldn't finish it

The narrator's stilted cadence and weird over-pronunciation made this "unlistenable". So annoying since the story seems interesting
