I love it!

Secret Betrayal, my first read/listen from author C.B. Clark. Well-written & enjoyable, I found it very enjoyable. Bill Nevitt’s excellent narration made the 11-hour 20-minute mystery/suspense pass quickly. I was given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it. Suspenseful romance

Secret Betrayal is a romantic suspense story by C.B. Clark. Having read a couple of books by this author, I expected an edge-of-the-seat story and was not disappointed. Fast-paced action, several wow I didn't see that coming twists to the plot and of course, a romance kept the interest high. Some things were a bit unrealistic but then that is what fiction is all about, right? I like police drama stories and this one was worth the read. Who could Marissa trust...her crimelord Uncle, Scott, the ADA? I liked how the author revealed Marissa's and Scott's pasts layer by layer, keeping interest high wondering how the situations came about and what would happen next. I listened to a complimentary copy of the audiobook and was not required to write a review. The opinions are my own. Bill Nevitt did a great job narrating the story which made for an entertaining listening experience. There are adult language and situations in this book.

Good romantic suspense

The stranger who is accusing her of being a hooker and trying to ruin his career, none other than ADA, Scott Bannister. Scott believes that Marissa has set him up when reporters show at the hotel and it turns out that she is the niece of a notorious mob boss. The same mob boss whom Scott has been after for years...also the same mob boss responsible for the death of his parents. When attempts are made on Marissa’s life, Scott begins to believe that she just may be telling the truth! Lots of action...mob bosses, corrupt cops and politicians! Will the good guy & girl survive?

Thrilling and romantic suspense story

Marissa's uncle is a crime lord and her life is in danger after she gets framed for murder. Scott, an attorney, has spent his life searching for the people responsoble for his parents death. When he meets Marissa under suspicious circumstnces and realises who she is, with his prime suspect being her uncle, he doesnt know if he can trust her.

Scott and Marissa go on a whirlwind adventure trying to prove their innocence, and find out who is responsible for the murders. The story is cleverly written to entice and entertain. The plot unravels with twists and secrets and lies to uncover the final truth. Through all of this, the main characters get romantically close and have to deal with that along with all the thrilling suspense as well!

Bill narrated very well. He was a great fit for the story and had great intonation and passion during the performance. I will definitely listen to more from him!

A fun, action filled, romantic thriller

Secret Betrayal is an entertaining romantic thriller involving a setup, the assistant DA and a gang war. This is a fun book with tons of action and a fair amount of violence, but it doesn’t take itself to serious.

Contains a graphic sex scene and violence. Recommended for mature audiences.

The narrator does a great job bringing the story to life and is good at differentiating the character’s voices. I do wish the lead female character came off a bit stronger in his reading however.

I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Not the best

I usually like this type of book but this one didn't quite do it for me. It wasn't terribly believable and I didn't feel any type of connection to the characters. Also, I usually like Bill Nevitt as a narrator and although his accents were good, his female voice was so whiny throughout the entire book I almost wanted her to be killed off. I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator.

Who can she trust? Or is she Not to be trusted?

This is the first book I’ve read/listened to by this author. This is an uncomplicated, easy listen. I enjoyed the mystery and how it was revealed piece by piece. The focus is attempted be be switched from character to character as the story progresses. I enjoyed the book, but something kept me from really loving the book. I think I had issues connecting with Scott. Marissa seems to be a strong woman by going against her uncle etc, but there are times she seems uncharacteristically weak. A few things happen that feel out of place. still, I’m glad I listened to this book.

This is the seventh book I’ve listened to by this narrator ( Bill Nevitt ) and I have enjoyed each one. His style is between reading and performing the story, yet I still get immersed in the stories he reads. His characters are typically distinct and female voices are done well.

There are no explicit sex scenes, or excessive violence. There is the occasional swearing.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and voluntarily left this unbiased review.

Devote the time to really Listen to this one

Let me start by saying that Bill Nevitt could narrate a water heater installation guide and I’d buy it! He does a great job keeping this book running smoothly.
This is one of those audiobooks you have to pay attention to. The fine lines between mobsters and the law are somewhat blurred and make for a great story line! I listened while on a road trip and had to back track more than once! Hubs complained a bit that the female lead was a bit whiny voiced but the sheer number of characters to give voice to more than justifies that. Great book, great entertainment and overall great experience.
