Unusual

Any additional comments?

At first I was not sure how I felt about the story at times it was repetitive and predictable. I stuck with it and now I am looking forward to hearing the next book. It ended at a place where I was so into the storyline that it left me wanting to know what happens next and to me that makes for a good book. At first I thought the book was good against evel but that is not the whole of it. It's also about trust and love and what you would sacrific for it. I did like the fact that the story was not filled with a lot of descriptive sex scenes. I liked both narrators and how they brought a good first person perspective to the storyline, please keep them.

This is an odd duck.

I'm not sure how I feel about this book. It's written in first person in alternating chapters from the perspective of the main two characters. The heroine is a young woman who seems to have plenty of time on her hands, though she's an up and coming photographer. She lives in an apartment next door to her best friend from college, and the two go out to clubs together. It's at a club late one night that she literally runs into a guy that she's strangely attracted to, but the attraction is unsettling. It's a big mystery who the guy is, and then there's another mysterious guy. Bad stuff happens. People close to her die. She's told she has a destiny that she denies, of course, while running around putting herself in danger.

It's pretty tame and somewhat predictable stuff. Kind of soporific, actually, though it weaves a spell. I listened right to the end to find out what was going on. Not sure I'd continue this one, probably not. Maybe if it's cheap I'll buy the next one on Audible for when I can't sleep.

Ho hum.

Unusual, paranormal romance

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Probably. Not sure. It was unusual. The book was a mystery with little information but, you keep listening. The characters and dialog work somehow. This was my most confused review.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

I didn't like it. But I plan on buying the next book, so go figure.

What about Gabriel Vaughan and Piper Goodeve ’s performance did you like?

I liked hers better but he was good too. They are convincing.

Do you think Secrets needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Well the book ends on a cliffhanger. If I knew that I might not have bought it. I like a satisfying or real end, even if it is a series.

Any additional comments?

This one was hard to rate. I liked it but didn't love it. I will buy the next book to get to the ending......

love this book! Narrative exceptionally good!

suspenseful, intriguing, romantic and tastefully sexy. This is my third time listening to the Vaughn /Goodeve performance which is very on point , including their inflections, attitude and timing. so looking forward to the next two entries scheduled for release!

Great concept

If you could sum up Secrets in three words, what would they be?

Loved the concept of a true good versus evil story. The ability to love someone that you fit perfectly with. That you know is a person that has done horrible things but can not stop loving them anyway. Great story it made me laugh and cry. Which means I was fully into the story. It was fantasy but still quite extraordinary in the characters. Loved every minute was sad when it ended and can not wait for book 2.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Secrets?

Ending which I will not ruin.

What does Gabriel Vaughan and Piper Goodeve bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The narration was well done liked the two narrators one for each character. They were great the reading was perfectly done with enough emotion to make it believable but not so much that you could not let your own imagination work as we'll.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Good falls for evil

Slow evolving story

The story line evolved too slowly. Certainly don't want to give away the story because half way through the story you know exactly where it is headed.

Very enjoyable new series

This was a really good book. It had a unique story line and the characters were good. The best part is it was a romance but didn't have all the gratuitous sex in it that so many do. The female narrator was not good at all. Flat and robotic much of the time. The male narrator was great. It did have several F bombs which weren't needed, but for $2.00 you it was well worth it.

Best book of the summer (for me)!

Which character – as performed by Gabriel Vaughan and Piper Goodeve – was your favorite?

Holden-Gabriel Vaughan has such a sexy voice....I will be looking for more books narrated by him. <3

Any additional comments?

Wow! I bought this book on sale and it sat in my library for months. The cover did nothing for me and the description didn't either. So, I'm out of credits and I thought, "ok, let's give that a try". I didn't expect much, sale books often disappoint, but OMG this was so awesome. It's one of my favorites this summer and it certainly makes my top 20 ever (and since I listen/read to about 10 books a month that's saying something!)SPOILER: Holden and Olivia are the ultimate star-crossed lovers--a demon (basically--they call them Jinni's) and an angel (basically--they call them guardians). How the author makes the characters so believable I don't' know. Swoon-worthy love scenes and great story telling. I love how the author writes--direct and to the point. She keeps the story moving along with just the right amount of details. My biggest complaint is that I actually had to read the kindle version of the 2nd and 3rd books (which I read in ONE day), since the audio version of those are nowhere to be found. That hurt---since I really needed to here Gabriel Vaughan do Holdens voice--yum.If you like romance/paranormal/Scifi you will love this! But clear your calendar because there are a lot of books in the series and you won't be able to stop one you start. Thankfully, I'm a teacher and it's summer---or else I'd be getting a sub for the next few days. :-)

great story

This is the second time I've read this book. Too much bad language, but an incredible storyline! Can't wait for second book.
