About this listen

I’m Sterling Sparrow. You’ve no doubt heard my name or read it on the top of tall buildings. There’s more to my business - my realm - than what is seen above ground.

Within the underbelly of one of America’s largest cities lives a world where a man’s word is either his most valuable tool or his most respected weapon. When my father ruled that world and that city, he promised me someone who would one day make my reign complete. Since that day long ago, Araneae McCrie has been mine. She just didn’t know.

My father is now gone. The city and the underbelly are now mine. The time has come for me to collect who was promised to me, to shred her life of secrets and make her who she’s always been - mine.

5 I've Been Aleatha'd Stars!!

I had the pleasure of reading this book when it was released, but like all of Ms. Romig's books I picked up the audiobook as well. And just like when I turned the last page, the last sentence in the audiobook had me gasping!

I absolutely loved both Ms Peachwood and Mr. Cendese as the narrators for this book. They're able to come across as Araneae and Sterling with pure perfection. The nuances for each character were so vivid in my mind thanks to them that I was so consumed by the story, again, that I would find myself sitting in my car so I could listen just a little longer!!

WOWZA!! This was my reaction when I turned the last page of Secrets the first book in the Web of Sin Trilogy by Ms. Romig. In this first book she hits us right from the get go with so much deviousness and secrets and lies!! Poor Araneae has her world pulled out from under her with no warning and her life changes on a dime.

I knew that we were in for a wild ride with this intro to the story and boy was I right!! I mean holy cow, Sterling Sparrow is not a man to be crossed and he makes that very clear when he and Kennedy, that's her name now, and he's making her the abide by an agreement made years ago.

Sterling Sparrow is so charismatic that I was aching to be in his web. He has a way about him that I just couldn't not fall in love with him. He exudes power in every situation. He's bigger than life and is not a man to be denied....

"My siren, my temptress, my sunshine - I wasn't sure exactly what she was, other than mine."

This book drew me in just like a spider calls its prey to its web. There's intrigue, passion, power, conspiracy and a darkness that Kennedy has no desire to be involved with, but she's not left a choice and that's what leads us to seeing these two come together. What's not lacking is a sexual chemistry that as much as Kennedy wants to deny it, is there in spades and she experiences passion unlike any she's ever had....

"All I could see was him - his gaze on mine. With each tilt upward, my pulse kicked up more and more, until under his stare my breathing slowed, and my knees grew weak."

This is the perfect start to this newest trilogy. The characters are ones I love and hate to love. As we progress we get some details as to what's really going on, but just enough to keep us fascinated with them and what I'm sure is going to be a gasp inducing climax when it's all said and done....Oh and the cliffie!!!! I literally gasped out loud and said "no effing way!!" Leave it to Ms. Romig to have me clamoring for more the minute this book ended....now I just need to get Lies as soon as possible!!!

Absolutely addicting

I was completely pulled into the story from the first chapter. I both loved and hated the push and pull between Kennedy and Sterling. I loved his dominance and at times I also hated it. I loved Kennedy's come backs and I hated her weakness for him as well. I think it was this love hate feeling I had throughout the story that made me ultimately not want to stop until I reached the end. The story is told mostly in the heroines POV and ends in a cliffhanger. The other two books are out already so I will be diving right in. Savannah Peachwood's narration was perfect, I especially loved the tone she used when Sterling was being his alpha self.

Continuation of the Sparrow corporation...sterling Sparrow ‘s story

I read this because I just finished The twisted series and wanted to know more about Sterling and Aranae...loved the female narration but did not like the male narration...he was too tense and did awful in the female impersonation...I wanted Patrick to sound younger but comes across as much older than Sterling...however, I intend to finish the series . OverLl, Love Aranee as the tough, strong denial character standing up to Sterling!

Female Narrator was excruciating

I could not listen to the book due to female narrator. Beyond bad with drama and extremely irritating over acting and inflection.

3 1/2 ⭐️, Heroine too dumb for words!

This trilogy has started out with some intrigue and mystery and I like that. It has definitely caught my interest and since all three parts of the trilogy have been released and since they are all included in the Escape package, I’m eager to continue.

My only complaint is that the Heroine is so childish and stupid, I want to climb into the book and smack her upside her head. Seriously, I would think it would be common sense and just basic self preservation, to avoid pissing off and disrespecting the head of a mafia family. I would also think if One had to make a choice between life and death, having a temper tantrum wouldn’t cross your mind. Luckily, the Hero has good self control, or this would change from a romance to a murder mystery!

driving me crazy

I love reading Aleatha Romig's books, I seriously came really close to putting this book down. the only thing that stopped me was because of her other works. I hate it when an author doesn't do their research on some things. The flying commercial from Boulder is driving me crazy. There is no airport in Boulder, theres one in Broomfield which is about 20 minutes away. The airport in Broomfield doesn't have commercial flights. You have to go to Denver to fly in and out.

intriguing

This is a dark series but I found it intriguing. This review is of the trilogy not just this book. It seems that when listening to a series many times the middle books do not advance the story but rather feel like "filler". this series was not that way. Each book contributed suspense, excitement and had to continue to see how the development completed. Highly recommend the whole series but beware that it is a dark trilogy.
