Publisher's summary

Anthony Rawlings had a plan - to teach Claire Nichols to behave. Claire Nichols had a plan - to survive! In an unfamiliar bedroom within a luxurious mansion, Claire Nichols wakes to memories of a brutal abduction. All of her recollections have one common denominator, the man she just met - Anthony Rawlings. Unbeknownst to Claire, Anthony has had her in his sights for a long time. Every action has consequences - and his actions resulted in their chance meeting. Facing incomprehensible circumstances, Claire must learn to survive as she comes to terms with her new reality - every aspect of her livelihood is now dependent upon the tall, dark-haired, dark-eyed tycoon. Anthony may appear to the world as a prosperous, benevolent, kind businessman, but in reality Claire learns he is also a menacing, controlling captor with very strict rules: Do as you're told, public failure is not an option, and don't divulge private information. Failure to follow these rules, and more, is met with serious consequences.

In an effort to earn her freedom, Claire learns her lessons well, and before long, she unknowingly captivates her captor. Anthony/Tony reluctantly becomes enthralled with Claire's beauty, resilience, and determination. Their interaction instigates strong emotions - including fear, anger, love, and lust - as their journey flows into uncharted waters of intrigue and passion.

From the opening criminal abduction, through the twists and turns, to the unlikely romantic thrills, the suspense climaxes as Aleatha Romig utilizes vivid detail, allowing this novel to unfold like a movie. Can you put the pieces of the puzzle together? Claire Nichols abduction wasn't a random act - did she learn her lessons well enough? Will these unlikely lovers remain true - or will she learn the truth before it's too late?

Twists and turns. Terrific narrator!

Would you listen to Consequences again? Why?

"I'm definitely interested in hearing the next two books. I thought that parts of it were sort of very unrealistic but altogether it was intriguing and well read (narrated) by Romy Nordlinger that it always kept me wanting to see what happens. There are a lot of strange twists in the plot which kept me entertained."

Terrific!

I read this when it first came out and liked it. The audiobook was even better. The narrator added a lot of emotion.

Repetitive

I like the idea of this book but was bothered by a simple thing: the overuse of the word compartmentalize. It grated in my nerves so much I couldn't focus on the story at the time. Will book two be plagued by this word?

My Two Pennies

Narration wise 4 Stars, its what kept me listening and not giving up. The emotions portrayed for these characters was clearly felt through my speakers. Story itself wise 3.5 I did finished the entire book but for me personally I was drifting off during a good middle section. I was intrigued in the beginning with Claire and what was happening between her and Anthony but then when particular decisions were made I just didn’t have the desire to know what was going to happen. Tony’s actions seem repetitive to me and it wasn’t a trigger that turned me off or anything I just wasn’t pulled in. Towards the end I will admit that the story took a good turn and I was getting back into it once again. Unfortunately I don’t see myself itching for the second book in this particular series. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.

Narrator

I do not enjoy this narrator. Voices are not and sound slightly ridiculous. A better narrator would have helped the story flow better.

A very long walk to a twist

It was a good story, but went on much longer than it should have. The cliffhanger ending is great though.

Not for me

I've never given a good review for a DNF. But despite the superb writing and excellent narration, I don't want to waste any more of my time. When Claire wanted to have sex with Tony just after waking from the coma he caused her, I was done.

Knowing abused women allow such things to happen doesn't mean I am willing to witness it. I'll find a good erotic mystery to listen to that entertains rather than angers me.

I LOVE ALEATHA ROMING BUT......

What did you like best about Consequences? What did you like least?

I didn't like the narrator the shrill up turn of her voice made it hard to listen to.. I had to turn down the volume just to make it to chapter 7

If you’ve listened to books by Aleatha Romig before, how does this one compare?

this one is not as good as others, usually she dose a great job of hooking me from the start. This book was super slow to start. I'm not into story's when the lead woman as weak, she doesn't defend herself at all.

What would have made this romance irresistible?

I like to be hooked from the start...
