About this listen

A massive cyber-attack crippled half the nation's power grid.

A super EMP took care of the rest.

While a cyber-attack crippled half the nation’s power grid, enemies of the United States launched an super EMP over the midwest sending the nation back to the stone age.

For Raine Caldwell and her neighbors, it couldn't have come at a worse time.

Deep into the coldest midwest winter on record, the nation is plunged into frigid darkness.

With emergency services crippled by the lack of transportation and streets snarled with stalled cars, a spark ignites and the city of St. Louis is engulfed in flames. Chaos grips the city as society spirals out of control and violence fills the streets.

With her building surrounded by fire, Raine and her neighbors are forced to flee on foot onto the snow covered streets seeking safety.

Seeking Safety is a gripping tale of an ordinary group of people as they fight to survive after an EMP plunges the nation into frigid darkness.

Would you have what it takes to survive the cold, dark, dangerous streets and make it to safety?

Seeking Safety is the first book in T. L. Payne's heart-stopping post-apocalyptic EMP survival series, Gateway to Chaos.

A woke version of the apocalypse

Nice warm fuzzy story. Even the occasional tragedies were a little to soft and sweet. I only continued through to the end because I spent a career working in the area this book encompasses and I kept expecting STL’s true colors to appear and make it more believable. I can’t envision a scenario like this going as smoothly in this city. The only true villains are rich white guys LOL.

Great Series

There are 4 books in this series and I have loved each one! With each book you grow more and more attached to the Characters and then the author decides to off one or 2 of them. hahaha The author is writing about things that could very well happen in a SHTF scenario. People leaving the cities and finding homes in small towns to live in. Some people take exception to this idea of taking what is not yours and being new in small towns. I love the interactions and how the story is flowing. Narration is great, no concerns on these books. I think if you are into the SHTF books then you will enjoy this series as much as I have.

The Main Female Charachter was HORRIBLE

Raine was so stupid every time there was a solution or an answer to a problem her naivety only made problems worse never solved . Every single situation they found them selves in she was the root cause of it getting worse- or any one in the party. It was made in the book to seem like she was some what prepared but even doing the necessary things for survival came with a guilt trip from her smh GAH This charterer was why it was so hard to make it through the book.

T.L. Payne Delivers Again

Overall I liked this story. There were some moments in the middle where I wasn't sure where it was going but it all made sense as the story came to an end. This was a post apocalyptic story about everyday people who are not preppers who use what skills they have with persistence to survive. There were many interesting characters and twists. Can't wait for the next book.

Story is good, Stacey is awesome

The story starts in sort of a paradoxical way. It introduces a plethora of characters and switches rapidly between many seemingly independent character perspectives locked within the same world but it builds slowly, and as a result I found myself having to rewind a lot to answer questions like "Wait, where are they again?" or "When did that happen?".
Overall it's a good story and Stacey G. is one of the best and doing what she does. About to start book 2!

Overall ok

This book truly made me mad they was so stupid it didn't make any sense. Like come on we know who the characters are why keep saying their names at the beginning of every sentence. Next the lack of situational awareness drove me crazy.

Mediocre

Mediocre dystopian story, and the beginning was especially slow. I just was not interested enough to buy the second book in the series.

Stupid, stupid, stupid

Did I tell you that I thought this book was stupid? I really did not care if any of the characters lived or died. I particularly was aggravated by Raine, a female pre-med student. She was so dumb that it made me want to slap her around the head a little bit. She created more problems in her feeble attempts to solve problems. Most of her decisions were the dumbest moves any person could make. The different ways the characters escaped from horrible situations were just too convenient and unbelievable. In fact, many of the solutions to dire situations were just abolutely ridiculous. However, I will say that the narrator was very good. I am definitely going to return this book and get something that entertains and interests me.
