About this listen

Fierce battles have given way to tranquility at Biltmore Estate. Who is Serafina if not the protector of her beloved home? Our heroine must confront deceptively dark and terrifying forces in this return to Robert Beatty's number one best-selling Serafina series.

Serafina makes an epic return in the fourth installment of Robert Beatty's number one New York Times best-selling series. Peace and tranquility have finally returned to Biltmore Estate after hard-won battles against encroaching darkness. But as time passes without signs of danger, Serafina finds herself questioning her own purpose. Who is she if not Biltmore's protector?

When a pure-white fawn emerges from the estate's lake, Braeden is quick to befriend the mysterious creature and nurse it back to health. But Serafina feels ill at ease around the fawn, and she is quick to suspect a connection when unsettling events take place at Biltmore. Is Serafina merely desperate to once again play the role of heroine? Or is her home in terrible danger from a strange and sinister force?

So good!!

I love this book! It shows passion, love and adventure! I have always loved the Robert Beatty stories!!! I also can’t wait for the next of the Willa of the Wood books!! What I disliked about it was that it should have had a less abrupt ending. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS BOOK TO ANYONE!!!!❤️

Great for kids and adults alike

Fun story (in the line of Serafina books, fourth, I think) that takes place in Biltmore. Interesting historical references and real details about the Biltmore estate snd surrounding property. It's great for teens/tweens, but I (middle-aged woman) have thoroughly enjoyed the entire series! I can't wait for the next one.

A great series to share with my daughters

My daughters and I listen to this book every morning on the way to school. We have loved every minute of it and when we move to Eastern TN this summer, we will definitely visit Biltmore.

Much darker

My daughter and I have been Serafina fans since day one and love listening to these books. There was a lot of death and violence in this story, it had a much darker tone than the previous ones including animal deaths which bother me more than my daughter. However, all the violence was part of a good lesson and the story was absolutely entrancing and as wonderful as the other books in the series. We are lifelong Serafina fans.

Great story, wierd voices

Exciting action! Compelling mystery! Serafina's high-pitched southern drawl detracted from the story, though. 7 stars!!

Great storyline development but the violence was a bit much

This book was more gruesome than any of the others with much more violence and death than I personally would want a 10-12 year old to be reading. I suppose it has been building throughout the series but I feel like this book tipped the scales of balance in a manner that takes it beyond what it’s projected audience age should read. The extent of it seemed unnecessary. I love Serafina and Braeden as characters and watching them grow and develop their skills has been great. I’m not looking for a lighthearted storyline. I just didn’t see why grievous injury couldn’t have been the extent of things. I’m also confused about the introduction of kittens. If they’d been barn kittens that came from the stable and had lost their mother, that would have been explanation enough. Instead she found them at some point in the past in the chimney of an abandoned building? Did I miss this in the last book? Why was she in an abandoned building anyway? Doesn’t feel developed properly. Instead it seems thrown in at random. I enjoyed the story. Robert Beatty is a great storyteller. I just left the story wishing I could make some changes to it.
