About this listen

A Sunday Times best seller.

The 13th adrenaline-filled Dirk Pitt classic from multi-million-copy king of the adventure novel, Clive Cussler.

A hundred and forty years after a British ship wrecks on the way to an Australian penal colony and the survivors discover diamonds on the tropical island where they wash up, Maeve Fletcher, one of their descendants, is stranded on an island in Antarctica with a party of passengers after their cruise ship seemingly abandons them.

Dirk Pitt, on an expedition to find the source of a deadly plague that is killing dolphins and seals in the Weddell Sea, finds Maeve and the passengers and rescues them from death. When Pitt later uncovers the cause of the plague, he discovers that Maeve's father, Arthur Dorsett, and her two sisters are responsible because of their diamond-mining technology. A deadly race develops to stop Dorsett from continuing his murderous mining operations and to head off a disaster that will kill millions. Pitt's struggle to foil Dorsett's ruthless plan to destroy the market for diamonds and thus gain a monopoly of his own takes him from harrowing adventures off the west coast of Canada to being cast adrift in the Tasman Sea.

Love this series! Very entertaining and I love the fact they’re longer than most audible novels.

Good yarn and hard to put down.

Loved the intrigue and narrator mastered the international dialects. The villains are delightfully evil.

Cussler & Brick are an immovable force

Clive Cussler has been one of my favorite authors from the first time I randomly picked up a Dirk Pitt adventure book years ago and never looked back. I matter the series, Pitt, Oregon, NUMA, Fargo or Bell, Cussler delivers some of the best imagery and story telling for a fiction author in this day and age. This book beat most all other I have either rad or listened to Of his. The story is absolutely breathtaking with characters good and evil that will stick with you. Scott Brick delivers the book with such grace and talent it feel like you’re a part of the story, immersed in one of Dirks craziest adventures yet. Around each turn you have no idea what’s coming next and Cussler runs with that. Absolutely extraordinary on every level.

Too much sex not enough story.

Most of Clive's work is more about story, about Dirk and Al. This is about carnal attitudes and innuendo with a little story thrown in on the side. Seems like Clive was either horny when he wrote this or was bored and is trolling us.

Great story and production.

The only thing that let it down ever so lightly was the Australian accents. They sounded like they came from 50-100 years ago. The Aussie accent has changed over the past few decades.
