About this listen

For fans of Andy Weir, from the first editor of THE MARTIAN and PROJECT HAIL MARY meet GOOD WILL HUNTING and THE X-FILES in this binge-worthy thriller...

A mathematical genius. A formula that speeds up space travel called SHORTCUT. His loving wife. When Laura Maxx disappears after an attack that leaves Jason Maxx in the hospital, his only goal is to find her and bring her back. Then he gets a message from Voyager One: Laura is alive. In space. To get her back, he’ll do whatever it takes—even taking on government agents who might try to stop him. Racing against the clock to perfect the formula and the system that relies on it, and find a suitable craft to take him out there, Jason finds he needs more than math to succeed this time.

An unforgettable near future, hard science fiction thriller from the producer of Donnie Darko and A Time To Kill and the #1 bestselling author and first editor of Andy Weir’s The Martian, SHORTCUT will have you on the edge of your seat!

For the Most Part a Great Read

When I began listening I just couldn't stop. I finished the first 2/3 of the book in 2 sit-downs. I was enthralled and already looking for follow up. However the rest of the book just didn't live up to what came before. It went from being a sci-fi thriller on an adult level to being more of a young adult rendition. The actions of the main characters became apparent in advance and the relationship between them went from the interactions of adults to those that you expect to find between characters in a very G rated book. Even worse, the married couples interacted like tween kids instead of adults with kids.

That's the worst I can say about this book, BUT, nonetheless I still think that it was an enjoyable book and I will look for what I hope will be another in the series.
