Just plain awful.

Would you try another book from J. A. Konrath and/or Luke Daniels?

I have read all of the Jack Daniels books and loved them, except for this one. It just didn't seem to belong to the series.

What was most disappointing about J. A. Konrath’s story?

Where was the humor? The "exciting" scenes were too long and dragged out.

Which scene was your favorite?

There wasn't one.

Was Shot of Tequila worth the listening time?

No.

Any additional comments?

The rest of the series is great, fast-paced and funny. Just don't waste your time or money on this one.

The right amount of killing and NO Dick Hill. YAY

I've never listened to a Jack Daniels book and I only listened to this one because it wasn't Dick Hill narrating, giving the MC an old sounding voice. I've tried a couple of DH's narrations but I couldn't stand how he sounded. Sorry, Dick Hill fans.

I expected Detective Jack Daniels to be in the book a lot more than she was. She was in it quite a bit after about ¾ of the way through the book but up until that it was all about Tequila. About his work with the mob as a killer. And about how he took such good care of his sister who suffered from Downs Syndrome.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. There were a few laugh out loud moments. Jack Daniels was alright, but I really like Tequila. He was just a really well written character. All the mobsters that Tequila worked for and with, Slake, Marty the Maniac, Matisse, Terco and Leman were all taken care of in the end.

Nothing sexual and the F-bomb was used 22 times.

As to the narration: Again, Luke Daniels does an amazing job, especially for as old as this book is. His voices and emotions are simply amazing.

Not up to standard

This story is more about "Tequila" than it is about Jack Daniels. I missed her banter in this one.

Different reader

I really wanted to hate this reader, but he was fabulous. Kept it different so you could remember it was a prequel, Herb was even skinny! Lol

THE BLOODIEST JACK DANIELS OF ALL

What did you love best about Shot of Tequila?

The story was fast moving. It was extremely violent. Rather than easing up on the violence the author doubled down.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Shot of Tequila?

Tequila and the dogs - Gruesome!

Have you listened to any of Luke Daniels’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes. He has a great voice.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Tequila and Jack Daniels

I really enjoyed this book. The narrator was great and the writer did a really good job of keeping me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. Lots of action!

Great book and narration

loved it. Huge Jack Daniels fan and this book follows suit. Jack Daniels narrations get less and less further in the series but this had great narration

I love a shot of good tequila.

I was skeptical about this book at the beginning ... particularly over the idea of naming characters after booze. This book IS quite different than the earlier JD books - we see a lot more of the "bad guys" and less of the usual Jack and her Scooby gang.

Luke Daniels is working at a huge disadvantage as a narrator following up Dick Hill who narrated not just one or two, but the bulk of the series thus-far. Mr. Daniels did a good job, and I think having more Tequila and less Jack helped.

Chronologically this book takes place prior to book 6 though it is unclear how long before that. In all honesty, I wish it had come out earlier in the series as I think overall that the story arch would have been served by a bit more development like this. In spite of the fact that Jack is featured less in this book, it reveals some important things about her morality and character and helps make sense of things that happen "later"in Cherry Bomb. If I were to relisten to this series I would rearrange the reading order to read them chronologically instead of in release order.

I thought I was just about done with this series, but listening to this one made me reconsider.
