About this listen

Amber Nicholls, Lachlan McCarthy, and Raffaele Wright would normally have absolutely nothing in common. But growing up as foster kids in Teddy Penhaligon's seaside home has forged a bond tighter than glue. Each one has messes in life to deal with, but when they get the news that Teddy's met someone while on vacation, they'll do anything to protect him from a presumed gold-digger—even if they have to save him from himself first. But how can they guide their foster father when they can barely get a grip on their own lives?

It's all a madcap jumble as secrets are shared, hearts are changed, and a single summer becomes a season of endless possibility.

The story's fine. However, the dreadful performance caused me to stop listening at chapter 10. The accents were abysmal and made me dislike characters I probably would've been fine with otherwise.

Story is ok

I enjoyed the characters and their stories. However, the narration nearly ruined the whole experience. The accents were cringe worthy. But when she read without the accents, she was very good.

Good story...narration lacking

Fantastic story. I love Jill Mansell. Wonderful, likeable characters with complex backgrounds that came together well.
But there may have been too many people in the book who were from other places. The accents were terrible, particularly Maureen from Milwaukee. People from Milwaukee do not sound like drunk southerners (usually)— and it’s totally okay not to know that! I would far rather just listen to the narrator read the story in her own voice than to be distracted by all of the changes of accent.

Great story. Bad accents.

The story lines were drawn out and at times a bit tedious.
The narrator tried way too hard and some accents were awful.
Would have been better to simply read the book with inflection!

Not my favourite!
