Sick of Murder

Meg is on her way over to her boyfriend Connor's place for their date night. Once she gets there she realizes he is very ill. A nasty virus has hit town and looks like Connor has picked it up. She takes care of him then leaves. She sees her neighbor and friend, Denise, and owner of her own business standing in front of her mailbox but totally lost in thought she didn't notice anything. When Meg walks over she surprises Denise. After talking for a bit, they each go their separate ways. The next time she gets to Connor's place his police radio sqwacks about a body being found at a business. Meg feels in the pit of her stomach that it's Denise. When she realizes the detective in training is going to investigate she decides to help behind his back. What starts as a typical(!!!!) murder investigation turns into a surprise investigation as one big surprise is discovered that will become a big plus in Meg's life. Now it's up to Meg to find her friend's killer while her boyfriend is sick.
Narrator Robin Waters is fantastic and brings the characters to live.

Great for car rides

I really enjoyed the story and the narration. I listened to this during a 2 hour car ride and was very pleased that I was able to hear the mystery solved by the time I got to my destination!!

Great Read

Sick of Murder was a good quick read by Amelia Morgan. Meg's boyfriend Connor, who is a detective, get's sick with the flu right before a murder happens in Enchanted Bay. Meg has to catch the killer herself since Connor is bed ridden. I really enjoyed reading about Meg trying to crack the case of the murder. I can't wait to read more by Amelia Morgan.

Cute and Cozy

Sick of Murder is a fun short listen by Amelia Morgan. The story is original and has some very unexpected twists, Robin Waters did a great job bringing them to life with her voice and expressions. I loved the imagery in the book. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. I will definitely listen to more books by this author and narrator in the future.

Straightforward mystery for very young readers

SPOILER ALERT! Do not read the rest of the review if you don't want to know how it ends.

SPOILER WARNING**************SPOILER WARNING*************SPOILER WARNING***********

O.k. if you dare read further then the spoiler is on you.

Author Amelia Morgan wrote this straightforward mystery aimed at readers 10-12 years old (in my estimation). Given that audience, the story is paced well and the characters engaging for a young reader's mind. Nothing offensive or inappropriate for a young reader appears in the pages.

The protagonist, Meg, is a charismatic good witch who solves homicides. She seems quite skilled in casting spells. This creates a problem; why can't she just cast a spell to solve the mystery? Suspending disbelief, the story is a good one and engaging.

The massive problem comes in the wasted opportunity at the end of book.

SPOILER SECTION:

After the real killer is captured and safely locked away, we are left with a scene of the voluptuous (read: dangerous) witch Pamela who has insinuated herself into Meg's life. In her book, witches can generate illusions of themselves. It's not too much of a stretch to imagine they can influence others to do their bidding since they can wipe memories completely.

Even a 10 year old would be rightly suspicious of Pamela, a natural antagonist if there ever was one. A young reader would never forget this book had Amelia simply had Meg slowly figure out that there was a reason there were so many murders in Enchanted Cove. All these years and these two witches had never crossed paths? Riiiight. Hopefully, Amelia is laughing at this review right now and the next several books in the series (there IS a series, correct?) will flesh out Pamela being Meg's nemesis.

The Witch Investigator

When her friend is found dead and her policeman boyfriend is down with the flu, Enchanted Bay witch Meg sets out to hunt down the killer, armed with her investigative talents and maybe a little magic in this cute little cozy mystery. Light hearted entertainment (never mind the dead body) and a great short read.

LOVED IT

Another cute story with Meg. She is a witch who uses her powers to help solve murder. This time her boyfriend, who is a detective, gets the flu that is going around and is in bed. Of course a murder happens and Meg can't help but o get involve.even though the detective who is handling the murder since Conner is sick, does not want her help. But of course this does not stop Meg. During this investigation, she discovers there is another witch in town. This a cute , short cozy but worth listening/ready. The narrator an excellent job. I was gifted this book at my request and i am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
