About this listen

Charlie Harrington is a respectable man. Mayor to his small mountain town. Successful attorney. Doting single father.

After one mishap in the past, he avoids scandal. Making everyone happy is his goal.

He’s nothing but content...and a bit boring.

Then, one morning, he finds a beautiful woman in his bedroom, and his world turns upside down. His good guy side suddenly wants to be a little bad.

Janessa Cruz has been both a have and a have-not. Ex-wife to someone famous, she’s now a single mother in hiding.

She just wants to go unnoticed. Quietly starting over in her forties is the plan.

Only, she isn’t certain what she wants. When a misunderstanding brings her face-to-face with the sexy town mayor, she can’t seem to avoid him, and being a little reckless never felt so right.

Another Harrington brother bites the dust, and he’s looking forward to getting all kinds of dirty.

couldn't finish

Female narrator killed it . Iread absolutely adore this author! I've read or listened to everything I find she has written, even under other pen names. I have faith this would be a great story as well, couldn't make it past chapter 3 .

Narrators not great

Cute story, but the narrators aren’t good. I stuck it out because I like the characters.

Steamy but a bit shallow?

Not too crazy about the narration. The story doesn't really flesh out the characters or the life in Blue ridge the way you'd want or expect

Female Narrator Was Meh

This story was good and I’m enjoying the series. Teddy Hamilton did a great job, as always. The female narrator’s attempt at a Hispanic accent was underwhelming.

Holy hot mayor!!

This book will steam up your kindle and your glasses!! Single mom Janissa has moved in with her parents after a pretty disastrous divorce. Not exactly what the 43yo expected at her age but she would rather start over than stay with her cheating pro-baseball player husband. Nissa never intended to get involved with her parents employer, hot, single dad...and mayor of Blue Ridge...but the instant chemistry has them taking chances. Lots of steam, selfish exes, two adorable 10yos, and town busybodies and you have a book that’s almost too hot to handle.

Steamy single parents romance

I enjoyed this book. Charlie and Nessa are single parents who were burnt by their ex’s. There is instant attraction when Charlie finds her in his bedroom. I enjoyed seeing the girls interaction and how good of parents they were. This book is also very steamy.

Anti-woman; poor parenting: so disappointed.

Dunbar writes nicely complex characters with realistic issues and the writing is smooth and easy to follow. But her male characters never really get the ways they’ve betrayed and hurt the FMC and the FMC never holds them accountable. They do not seem to ever get to the full conversation where they understand one another and really resolve things. And I am so tired of the “forced pregnancy makes a hero” storyline. When you create a character who wants an abortion and then proceed to demonstrate all the ways she is a terrible parent, you are supporting her choice - she was clearly right to not want to bring a child into her world - and making the man who “made her go through with it” a selfish idiot who is deliberately harming a child and the parent forced into completing a pregnancy. Both “good” parents in this story did everything they could to cut out entirely the “bad” parent from their childrens’ lives and while I absolutely appreciate the sentiment, it is NOT in the best interest of kids — terrible family messaging. It would be nice to see decent co-parenting from divorced couples. Why do exes always have to be terrible? I think this writer is just promoting so many problematic idea with absolutely no awareness of the negative consequences. Why do exes have to be dead or static, over-the-top bad guys to justify divorce? And it’s a shame. Because her small town is lovely, her writing is emotional, and there just aren’t that many writers who write romances about mature grown ups.
