Publisher's summary

The explosive new addition to the DDVN World (Fire and Ice series) by USA Today best-selling author K. F. Breene!

Something has always been missing from my life. A hole that I could never seem to fill.

When I accidentally turn a coven of witches into nightmares, I find out what that something is.

Magic.

And it turns out, I have a crap load of it.

As a latent power awakens deep inside of me, I'm exposed to one of the most powerful and corrupt organizations in the magical world - the Mages' Guild.

Barely knowing a spell from a few swear words and luck, I won't be able to evade them alone.

And that's when I meet him.

The Rogue Natural. The best and most feared mage in the world.

He's dangerous, mysterious, and has a vendetta of his own. He is now the only thing between me and magical enslavement.

excellent spin off

The journey Penny and Emory is well paced with the same humor as the fire series. The mom in the story is even better than Callie. I hope Emory is back soon rather than later in book 2. I can't wait to hear it. Highly recommend.

Entertaining

Natural Witch is an entertaining addition the Fire and Ice world. The characters aren't as interes6as Regan and Darius but they can hold their own. I really like Penny's mom. She added much needed punch to this book.

Entertaining enough

There are a lot of negative comments for this book in the series, but, in my opinion, the story is entertaining enough to finish and then continue on to the next installment. After reading the comments I nearly skipped over this and the Warrior books but as I already mentioned this book is worth finishing. The main characters in this story aren't as likeable as the main characters in the first 3 books in the series. Penny starts off as gullible and self-conscious but develops quickly. I would say she develops so quickly that it is a little unrealistic but I prefer that progression to a whiny weakling of a character. I'm not sure why this isn't book 2 instead of 4 because this events of this book take place right before the trip to Seattle to investigate the demon summoning.

OK, but it’s no Fire&Ice

I listened to the fire & ice trilogy first and Loved it. This is the next series, but it’s nowhere as good as the first 3. I think you need to listen to F&I before you can even try to enjoy this book. The action was less, the romance was tame, but it was OK. I’ll listen to the next ones just so I can get a glimpse of Darius and Reagan.

So so good

I'm not sure I've loved a book or audiobook more! The story itself is amazing, with Penny making me laugh and cheer and root for all the while. Nicole did an amazing job differentiating between characters and bringing one of my favorites to life! Highly recommend!

different narrators

I don't like the change in narrators in series books it should be the same one from the start of the series to the next especially if it has some of the same characters, just doesn't sound right. Don't use a women's voice to do men's voices they sound like boys going through puperty, especially if the men are over 1000years old.

Breene never fails to deliver!

Great story! If you are a fan of the Fire & Ice trilogy you will be happy to see Reagen and team as side characters in this book! This is Penny’s story and her discovery of magic and of course chaos! You’ll love her from the start with her quirkiness, awkwardness, and unique but funny swearing. Some of the things don’t quite jibe such as a 24 y.o. still living at home under a controlling parent, but just roll with it. The book is entertaining and you’ll likely laugh. The narrator did a good job providing unique voices and appropriate tone inflections for each character and scene.
