About this listen

Waking up hungover in the sheep pen is the least of my problems.

The worst? A foreclosure notice for my family farm.

Scratch that. The actual worst is the woman delivering the news: my ex, who broke my heart and left me behind for the big city.

I’ve spent a decade trying to forget Lia Thorne, and now she’s the only one who can help my family dig ourselves out from our crushing debt and even stronger egos.

I’m not afraid to get my hands dirty. And if I go along with Lia’s new-fangled scheme, maybe I can win back more than my finances …

Just as long as my meddling grandma and her spoiled sheep don’t interfere.

Since You’ve Bean Gone kicks off the Farm 2 Forking crop of laugh out loud romantic comedies set on Bedd Fellows Farm.

Dig into this swoony, unputdownable second-chance romance by USA Today bestselling author Lainey Davis and buckle up for an un-baa-lievable ride.

Fun start to a new series with great authors

Since You've Bean Gone is an utter delight, and exactly what you expect from a Lainey Davis romcom. It's witty, it's fun, but it also addresses real life issues with heart and compassion.

Since You've Bean Gone is is the first book in the multi-author Farm 2 Forking series about the Bedd family, an upstate NY farming family trying to save the family farm. It's also a heartfelt second chance romance as Ethan Bedd has to work with Lia, his lost love, to save the farm. Ethan and Lia were high school sweethearts, and Ethan thought Lia was his future, until she left him behind. She had her reasons, and those reasons still exist, but Ethan makes sure the adult Lia knows that they're not insurmountable.

The audio, narrated by Erin Mallon and Alastair Haynesbridge, is top-notch. Erin and Alastair make sure we experience every giggle, every sigh, every moment of heartbreak and moment of glee.

This is a stand-alone romance, but how the Bedd family saves the farm is interwoven through the 5 book series. It's well-worth the read/listen!

A Punny & Sweet Second Chance!

Oh my goodness, ewe have got to read Since You’ve Bean Gone by Lainey Davis! This heartfelt, cheeky, pun-filled romcom was such a fun start to the Farm 2 Forking series! Lia Thorne ghosted her high school boyfriend, Ethan Bedd when she left for college without a word. Now she’s back to help him save the family farm. Can she mend fences and melt his hardened heart too? I love the Bedd family and Baabara was hilarious! Once they lay their cards on the table, Lia and Ethan are an unstoppable team. The way he jumps into his second chance to care for her and she breaks down his grump barricade melted my heart like butter!

Erin Mallon and Alastair Haynesbridge were fabewelous in the dual narration of the Since You’ve Bean Gone audiobook! It was wonderful to revisit Bedd Farm with Erin and Alastair bringing Fork Lick’s quirky characters to life. Erin’s portrayal of Lia was endearing. Alastair brought the grumpy farmer Ethan Bedd off the page perfectly. These two were utterly delightful and I cannot wait to continue with the series!

Cute Second Chance Romance

I'm a sucker for a second chance romance and I really enjoyed this one. I have been a huge fan of Erin Mallon for years and she was perfect as always. This was my first listen with Alastair Haynesbridge and I really enjoyed his performance.

Ethan and Lia were high school sweethearts until Lia went away. Ethan was obviously crushed, and he hadn't seen Lia in 10 years. Then she comes back to town to try and help Ethan and his family save their farm after they found out his grandfather was in way over his head. Ethan is very hesitant at first because his heart is still wounded. Eventually he sees that Lia has some good ideas to help his family.

Lia was very devoted to her job and then even more devoted to her hometown and Ethan's family. I loved seeing these two overcome the things from their past and see what their future could hold. I can't wait to dive into the next book in this series.

Loved this second chance romance!

I loved the idea of a series of small town romantic comedy stories set in the same world and each story created by a different talented author! The first book starts off with my favorite second chance romance trope, so I was very excited to begin and I was not disappoint. Ethan Bedd is the oldest in the family and he is now in charge of the family soybean farm after his grandfather's passing. He learns that the farm is about to enter foreclosure after his grandfather took out risky loans without telling anyone. Lia Thorne is the financial advisor who is assigned to help him turn things around. Unfortunately she is the one woman who owns his heart and has never gotten over, after she left town years ago without looking back. Lia has her own secret she is embarrassed to disclose. But when her hard work on the farm causes issues, she is forced to tell Ethan. Ethan will do anything to help Lia, and it only brings them closer. As they make creative changes to the farm, Lia begins to feel at home again, and her feelings for Ethan resurface stronger. But when her assignment draws to a close, will she walk away again, breaking both their hearts for good? I love Ethan and Lia together! Their relationship starts off a bit rocky, but I loved how they slowly begin to reconcile their flawed history. They also have difficult but loving relationships with their quirky family and friends (insert their awesome Gran and Baabara Streisand-Bedd here) who cause more hilarity, complications, and drama that had me laughing out loud, swooning, and cheering for Ethan and Lia's HEA. I also loved how Davis introduced a sensitive topic with honesty and empathy. This slow burn, rom-com is filled with witty banter, awkward and hilarious situations, and a sweet and sexy storyline with lots of heart.
Alastair Haynesbridge and Erin Mallon did a great job bringing this story to life. I love both their voices, along with their flawless comedic timing and dynamic voice changes as they delivered the authors fast paced, clever banter. They made this hilarious, heartfelt, and steamy story even better.

Forking great start to this series!

Since You've Bean Gone is book #1 in the Farm 2 Forking series. Lainey Davis always brings us stories about folks with real lives and struggles that we can relate with but still have that romantic fantasy of an HEA. Ethan is struggling to save his family farm that has landed in a huge amount of mortgage debt and about to be foreclosed on. The lender sends none other than his enemy Lia Thorne, Ethan's ex-girlfriend from high school, to help get the farm back on its feet. There are a lot of unanswered questions from their past, secrets that have yet to be revealed, oh...and a possible fiancé that are mudding the waters. But the chemistry between these two is still sparking. This is a funny, heartwarming, totally steamy second chance/small-town romance that will keep you listening from beginning to end. Forking good fun and an excellent start to this fantastic series!

The duet narration was spectacular. Alastair Haynesbridge is one narrator that I could listen to all day long and never be disappointed. He definitely gave us the grumpy Ethan we were expecting. Erin Mallon has been a mainstay in my audio library with her versatility in bringing the funny and sexy sides of her characters. These two were just a dynamic duo. 5 forking stars!!

Angsty second chance romance in scrumptious voices

Story Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (0-5)
Narration: 🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧 (0-5)
Overall: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 (0-5)
Steam: 🔥🔥🔥 (0-5)

What I’m Starry-Eyed Over:
🤩 Updating for audiobook: Erin Mallon & Alastair Haynesbridge have scrumptious voices, enhance all the feels, and make this story even more sweet, loving, and enjoyable. I'm looking forward to listening to the rest of the series in their narration.
🤩 This whole amazing collaboration between authors to make the Farm 2 Forking series—Bedd Fellows Farm and Fork Lick, New York. The next books will be written by Liz Alden, Karen Grey, Erin Mallon, and Ember Leigh.
🤩 The book reminded me why I prefer first person dual POV. I love knowing both characters deeply, feeling the inner turmoil, deep thoughts, and growth.
🤩 An emotional support sheep named Baabara Streisand. And, some super fun town names.
🤩 Angsty second chance romance—oh my heart.
🤩 The captivating plot is the reason Lia Thorne is back in town. And that need to know how and why she left town in the first place.
🤩 Secret pining, forced proximity, and naughty thoughts.
🤩 Amazing Crohn’s Disease representation—so much heart while keeping the romcom humor (the dung diary).
🤩 Farm life is interesting and funny.
🤩 Cabin life—Ethan Bedd is total book boyfriend material—caring, loving, supportive, and so stinkin’ hot.
🤩 Sibling fun and forgiveness.
🤩 Gran—she’s amazing and funny and so, so sweet.

What I’m Wishing/Dizzy About:
💫 A little love triangle situation. I like it this way, where the one character (non-MMC) is not a very good person. But I wish the love triangle could have been gone a bit sooner.
💫 The slow burn was beautiful, but I did wish for a little more time with them as a true couple. Update: The bonus scene helped me feel more like I got enough of them together as a couple.
💫 Molly and Alex—I’m so looking forward to their story and the rest of the series.

Already fabulous, even better as an audiobook

Updated for audiobook: What a joy to now listen to the first fantastic book in the multi-author Farm 2 Forking series set on Bedd Fellows Farm. Erin Mallon is an author of one of the books in the series, and she and fellow narrator Alastair Haynesbridge provide the listening pleasure for all five audiobooks. Since You’ve Bean Gone and Bedd Fellows Farm are like nothing you’ve seen before, and the fun and bizarre happenings and the serious undertone spring to life when read to you. Mallon is perfect, as always, as Ethan’s lost love Lia and every other female character. Haynesbridge has a distinctive voice that expertly captures Ethan’s moods: serious, worried, offended, and if you don’t laugh out loud every single time he says “Baa-bara” you just aren’t paying attention. An excellent, satisfying read now made even better by these two talented voice actors. I received an advance copy of the audiobook. I voluntarily leave this review; all opinions are my own.

What a fantastic start to the multi-author Farm 2 Forking series set on Bedd Fellows Farm.
Since You’ve Bean Gone is full of fun and puns that make you wince and cringe, but also with a serious thread running throughout. Family, finances, foreclosure, fitness – and the future. Ethan is the oldest Bedd sibling and the serious one. Grandad died and left the family soybean farm in a very precarious position, and he left Ethan fully in charge of it. Grandad didn’t take advice or suggestions well, so no one knew just how dire their financial straits were. So Ethan is scrambling. Gran has just lost her husband; Ethan can’t bear being the one responsible for also taking away her home – and her spoiled sheep Baa-bara.

The bank is only willing to work with Ethan if he agrees to have a consultant, an advisor, an interloper come and review things and make suggestions, suggestions he may have no choice but to follow. As if things aren’t already bad enough, the financial advisor is none other than Lia Thorne, the woman who years ago took off for the big city and took his broken heart with her.

Don’t worry that all this drama and doom make Since You’ve Bean Gone a depressing read. Just the opposite. Author Lainey Davis expertly weaves humor and heat into Ethan’s predicament and his reaction to Lia’s sudden appearance back in his life.

As for Lia, she had her reasons for leaving and still has them, but it sure does feel good in some ways to be back, even if Ethan wants to run every time he sees her. She never meant to break his heart. From the first glimpse of them back together we know there is something still there and can’t help but hope it will take root and grow. Lia has suggestions for saving the farm that involve what seem like pretty radical changes, but Ethan has to agree that Grandad’s stick-in-the-mud-set-in-his-ways approach didn’t exactly work out. He’s game to try new things, but it’s tough – and often hilarious.

Since You’ve Bean Gone is sweet and tender, heartfelt and sincere, with so many puns and outlandish predicaments you can’t keep count, and with loyalty and dedication and determination everywhere. And heat, don’t forget the steamy side. Bring a handkerchief to fan your face.

Thanks to Home Cooked Books and author Lainey Davis for providing an advance copy of Since You’ve Been Gone. I thoroughly enjoyed it, so much so that I sought out other books by this terrific author. And I can’t wait to return to Bedd Fellows Farm and Fork Lick, New York to see what the other four authors in this five-book series have in store for us. I voluntarily leave this review; all opinions are my own.

A sheep named Baaabra! Hilarious!

I listened to the audio version of this book narrated by Erin Mallen and Alastair Haynesbridge. Ms. Fallen is one of my very favorite narrators. She did a fantastic job with the narration. Her delivery is perfect for the humor in the book. Their voices work very well together for this story.

This is a great romcom that is the first story in a series written by different authors. This particular one starts out with Ethan trying to figure out how to save his family farm. The woman sent by the bank to try to help turns out to be no other than Lia, his old girlfriend.

This second chance trope is very fun. I loved the sheep named Baaabara, and especially the way the characters said her name. I also loved that Ethan was so supportive of Lia when her chronic illness was flaring. I also suffer from an invisible illness, so I really connected to that. I happen to have my own Ethan in that respect. Then there is the hot farmer holding baby animals. Lia really didn't stand a chance in resisting Ethan.

If you like a good flirty romcom, you should give this a try.

Oh So Yummy

Since You've Bean Gone is the first book of a new series called Fork 2 Farm by Lainey Davis, Liz Alden, Karen Grey, Erin Mallon & Ember Leigh.

Lia is there to help with the financial part of the farm and Ethan, the small town farm boy. The high school sweethearts reconnect in this funny small town, second chance romance. It took me a bit to warm up to all the characters, I'm still confused about the brothers, but once I did I was hooked line and sinker

Erin Mallon and Alastair Haynesbridge did an awesome job bringing this whole world together and voicing every one. i love these two together
