Publisher's summary

How far would you go to hold on to the people you love? When Olivia Brookes calls the police to report that her husband and children are missing, she believes she will never see them again. She has reason to fear the worst; this isn’t the first tragedy that Olivia has experienced. Now, two years later, Detective Chief Inspector Tom Douglas is called in to investigate this family again, but this time it’s Olivia who has disappeared. All the evidence suggests that she was in the family home that morning. But her car is in the garage, and her purse is in her handbag - on the kitchen table. The police want to issue an appeal, but for some reason every single picture of this family has been removed from albums, from phones, from computers. And then they find the blood…. Has the past caught up with Olivia? Sleep tight - if you can. You never know who’s watching.

A Great Listen

The story has enough twists to keep you guessing. Really helped me take my mind off of my long cardio exercise. Highly recommend if you are into the thriller, investigative type.

Performance

Couldn't get over the male voice for this book. He made everyone sound like a slime ball, psychopath. Totally overdone and not fitting with the characters.

I Did Manage to Finish the Book

It took several chapters and some teeth gritting before I adjusted to the annoying switches between first and third person. 1) The premise was very promising, but this book needed a steely editor to cut the padding from this story. There were too many plot point repetitions throughout the book. 2) The author seemed to have a need for the "heroine" to assure that the listener/reader hadn't missed earlier revelations. For example, specific observations about the villain's behaviour. 3) The personal angst stories of the detectives were irrelevant and detracted from the main storyline. Furthermore, one of the detective's side storyline (break in) was not resolved. 4) Both narrators saved the story, hence three stars.

Pleasantly surprised

Zero expectations, ended up being full of twists and turns, surprise ending, loved the British accents!

Well writen

The story of a woman trapped in a marriage by a stalker trying to keep her children safe. Or is she? The heroine appears weak throughout the story but she's not and the plot takes many twists and turns that keep you listening/reading.

A good but not great story

If you could sum up Sleep Tight in three words, what would they be?

This was a good story. The plot twists were not too obvious. A little on the predictable side, tho. What I could not take was the tough guy detective voice. It got annoying enough that half way in, I purchased the text version so I could finish the story without that irritating tough guy persona.

Not a thriller

Is there anything you would change about this book?

No, I don't believe I could suggest anything to change it into a good book.

Would you recommend Sleep Tight to your friends? Why or why not?

No. The writing was mediocre to poor.

Which scene was your favorite?

None.

Was Sleep Tight worth the listening time?

No

Any additional comments?

Just not at all "edge of your seat" kind of novel. Time is our most precious possession and this I consider a waste of my time. I did not find the characters interesting.

The Best!! Worth the credit!

Rachel Abbot is an excellent thriller author!! Life has so many influences of cause and effects. This author knows how to write a believable intriguing plot then when times you thought you have it figured out ... wait for it... you had the clues.. but the twists are an “aha”!
Olivia finds out she unknowingly married her very own stalker!
