About this listen

In Agatha Christie’s classic, Sleeping Murder, the indomitable Miss Marple turns ghost hunter and uncovers shocking evidence of a perfect crime.

Soon after Gwenda moved into her new home, odd things started to happen. Despite her best efforts to modernize the house, she only succeeded in dredging up its past. Worse, she felt an irrational sense of terror every time she climbed the stairs.

In fear, Gwenda turned to Miss Marple to exorcise her ghosts. Between them, they were to solve a “perfect” crime committed many years before.

Wonderful performance by the narrator. Very enjoyable listen. And the story of course is magnificent Agatha Christie. Miss Marple is her very best character.

Great narrator

She sounds like she’s from Texas in the southern USA! It did not belong in this British murder mystery

What is with Gwenda’s Glenda’s voice?

I loved this story! Creepy from the beginning and ended so well. This is definitely one of my favorite Agatha Christie books. The narrator was excellent also.

What a ride!

The story was nice and well narrated but the one listening has to be used to Agatha Christie’s style to follow this one since all correct conclusions come in the end. Miss Marple was not the main character thinking through as the story rolls but the young couple involved in the plot. They were sometimes annoying. And lost with too many conclusions. But since I love Agatha Christie’s style, it was not difficult to enjoy the story. But I followed my own instincts and got rewarded. Sure I recommend it!

Nice story

What did you love best about Sleeping Murder?

I loved how just when you think the mystery was solved, there was a new direction.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Though I guessed from the begining who-done-it, the story still kept me engaged enough to listen to the whole thing. I really enjoyed the characters journey to the truth.

What about Stephanie Cole’s performance did you like?

I really like how well she switched between the accents of the characters

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did listen to this in one sitting.

Good Old Fashioned Murder Mystery!

I guess I just don't get whats so exciting about Agatha Christie. Sorry.
I guess the book was well written and a sort of interesting story, but there wasn't anything that excited me.

Ok mystery

You don't see it coming at the end. The clues, the plot twists, really thrilling.

absolutely thrilling

The latter Marple’s were stronger overall than early ones I feel, though if you do several Christie’s chronologically or restrict yourself to one character at a time in close proximity you will recognize similar elements & even plots with some variation. Had this ending been different it would be one of the best Marple’s due to a strong opening setup; it is still very good but a couple elements/themes were too similar to previous book(s) in series. But I have finished Christie’s Novels & have only a few short stories to do & there are several novels when she breaks her mold that are excellent. Crooked House; Roger Ackroyd; Orient Express; And Then There We’re None; End House; Curtain; 5 Pigs….

Good final Marple

Agatha Christie made me fall in love with mysteries when I was a teenager. I love and enjoyed them for 50 years. This is Miss Marple's last case. Great story.

It's Agatha. Always a joy.
