Publisher's summary

Terry Goodkind returns to the epic Sword of Truth saga in a tale of sweeping fantasy adventure bound to enthrall his growing legion of fans. In Temple of the Winds, the New York Times best selling fourth novel in the series, the Seeker of Truth Richard Rahl and Mother Confessor Kahlan Amnell risked their lives and souls to free the land of D'Hara from the scourge of a magical plague. But in doing so they accidentally unleashed the Chimes, a magic whose threat will reach far beyond D'Hara.

Now it has become terrifyingly clear that the Chimes have the potential to bring down all that Richard and Kahlan have worked to protect, and even the power of the Sword of Truth may not be enough to stem the tide of their unleashed magical force. But if the Chimes cannot be stopped, first they will ravage Richard and Kahlan, then all of D'Hara, and then the entire world.

Epic edge: listen to more in the Sword of Truth series.

Make up your own mind

I don't pay attention to reviews from other people. We all have different tastes. I don't pay attention to the movie critics either. If something seems interesting I will check it out.
Having said that, I am glad that I started watching the crappy T.V. Show that led me to the discovery of this book series. Although this author is long winded at times I enjoy the detail. I am glad that the work was done with such care. I am happily lost in the series. I think I will probably want more once I get to the last book. My vision of the lands, cities and characters is much more grand than the T.V. show. Although I do see the Mother Confessor as the current T.V. character (Bridget Regan), I have a totally different picture of Richard.
Now, I suggest that before you take stock in my review or any review here you think for yourself. This book series may suck for you or it could be the best book you have ever read err.. listened to. Sometimes you just have to say... WTF! And take a leap of faith. Enjoy! Or Not! HAHAHAHAHAHA!

Enjoyable, needs better resolution and denouement

Terry Goodkind is a talented writer. Books 1 through 3 were captivating and fun if you enjoy the Fantasy genre. However by book 5 the ends are starting to become predictable. Hoping book 6 will impress more.

Great book, great performance

I love this series, and I was incredibly pleased at how well the performance lives up to the story’s feel! Fantastic audiobook, and I’ll definitely be listening to more performances from Buck Schirner!

Yay names!

At least all the names were said the same as they were in the first book. This narrator is good as the voice of Richard but I do wish they hadnt changed narrators so much throughout the whole series.

A great read

First of all Buck Schirner did a fantastic job reading this. His female voices leave a little to be desired but to be fair he has a very deep voice so I am going to forgive him on that. Goodkind spends a long time on characters you don't actually care about, but they are an essential part of the story so stick through it. I wish there was one solid consistent reader across this series, but Buck did a fantastic job and learned how to pronounce the names!!!

Exciting and good flow

Narrator took some getting use to but in the end enjoyed his reading. The story was a continued delight of this ever moving story.

The narrator did a decent job but had a bad lisp.

I liked the narrator but had a very pronounced lisp. I found it difficult to get past. I was relieved to know this narrator pronounced Kahlans name correctly. The previous book with a different narrator mispronounced her name as Collin. That was beyond annoying and did take away from the story. The narrator of Soul of the Fire could could not pronounce his "S" words at all. In fact, the lisp bled over to many other words just not as distracting as the "S" words. I am surprised this narrator has the job he does without such a bad speech impedament.
