About this listen

Otto is Richard Krugg's only son and heir to the Shaman's gift.

Otto doesn't want it. He wants to be a fisherman. When company policies force unwelcome changes onto his life and threaten even the security of the village, Otto discovers that being a shaman isn't optional.

Jimmy Pirano is caught between the devil and the deep green sea when new production quotas are handed down from corporate headquarters. Locked into a century of existing practice, Jimmy is forced to find new ways to fish and new places to do it in or face the very real possibility that Pirano Fisheries will lose the St. Cloud franchise.

Join Otto, Richard, and Rachel Krugg as they struggle with what it means to be the son of a shaman. Cast off with Jimmy, Tony, and Casey as they navigate the shoals and shallows of corporate fishery along the South Coast.

Another fantastic book by Nathan Lowell. It was really neat to learn more about the Shaman way of life and meet some new characters in the same world as Ishmael and Pip.

nathan did it again

At the end of this nook, there is a preview of the next, and yet it is not available as an Audible title. :(

Obviously they at least started to record it...

I came upon the Shaman’s Tales series from all the other Golden Age of the Solar Clipper series. No spaceships, just regular ships, OK. Nathan Lowell is a brilliant writer and I find buying his audiobooks as a sound investment. Haven’t been disappointed yet! Not religious, who cares? I dare you not to like it. This is a coming of age tale where a boy/man might not find the path he was looking for, but his path might just find him. I’ve already listened to the next book in the series as I review this one and when I’m done typing , I’ll start the third. Author - Stupendous, Narrator - Amazing, Story - Superb!!! To think I first started listening to Nathan Lowell narrate his own Audiobooks for free. It took me a second to get to like Jeffrey Kafer because you never forget your first listen. Now I’ve grown up with Ishmael, Pip, Natalya, Zoya, Otto, and Sarah. Please Mr. Lowell keep writing masterpieces in this Golden Age!!!

No Solar Clippers, No Problem, Enjoyed anyway!

I have read many other books by Nathan Lowell. Jeffrey kaufer has become a familiar voice. I love the other characters I've come to see as extended family members in my literary imagination, and I love understanding more about the SouthCoast shamans of this world. highly recommend

exciting, but not too dull. Happiness in the little things of life. There a time and a season for everything. No need to strive or stress

Heartwarming. Introspective. Not too

It always makes me cry in a good way. There are two spots in the story that I can't help but cry and I've listened to it several times.

Nathan Lowell is one of my favorite authors and this book is just another example of why, it's fantastic, heartfelt, a fun, quiet adventure. If you are looking for swashbuckling or space combat, this isn't the book for you.

I eagerly await the sequel.

Amazing!

A new fan of Nathan Lowell, I am digesting the endless great tales he has given us. I have read the 6 Solar Clipper series and its sequels and am eager to delve further into Lowell's view of the future. This book was very interesting, but I thought there was something a little off, and it turned out to be the speed. At Chapter 5, I lowered the speed to 90% and then Jeffrey Kafer's narration became perfect. He is one of my absolute favorites.
The story line is interesting, and I am glad to have the background of the Clipper series to bury myself into the story, which is unique, as all Lowell's tales are, although they are interconnected. At the end of the book, I could tell there was more to come, and I already have the next in the Shaman series in my queue. Safe travels, everyone. The adventure continues.

Slow to start, but quickly engaged
