About this listen

Sparo Rising is a spinoff series from the Techromancy Scrolls. Each audiobook features a standalone story of a different side character from the Techromancy Scrolls that listeners wished to hear more about. This fourth audiobook centers around Ranelle of the Andrei and her rise to power.

Almost 3000 years after an extinction level event on Earth, mankind seeks to regain its former glory in a new world where magic and technology collide.

Before there was Laney, there was a minstrel. Sora Ranelle of the Andrei, who rose up to become one of the most loved Great Mothers of the People in the history of Sparo.

From questionable beginnings, and possessing a power she could not control, the Mother of the Andrei sent Rain to learn control under the tutelage of the eldest and most powerful of the Mountain Gypsies, Mother Udele of the Lupei. The old seer teaches control and more to the young woman, whose fate Udele has already seen in her visions.

Over the years, Udele sends for Rain to witness turning points in the history of Sparo. And the Mountain Gypsy clans slowly lose their fear of her explosive magiks and learn to love her as their fierce protector.

On the day of the Choosing, where the Conclave of Mothers select a new ruler, to her shocked surprise, Ranelle is selected to lead as Great Mother of the People.

Fate is a fickle mistress

Those familiar with the Techromancy series will immensely enjoy this origin story of a young Arabella before her “ascendance” to the position of Great Mother. Quirky and affable with a unique gaze on events that would make the heroes fans of the stories all love. Highly recommended

Great backstory

I’m glad Erik did a backstory for Rain and am curious where the story will go next.

At last, Rain's story.

Great Mother Rannel, (Rain to her friends) has been a bit of a linchpin for the Technomancy Scrolls stories. Now, we get to see her beginnings, and see some of the other stories we've heard from her point of view.
It's nice to see that she had her stumbles and trials. It just makes me love her all the more.

Great Story as Always.

Once again, Erik Schubach has an excellent story. Love the backstory. The reader has a lot of talent. Coming from a theatre background, I can understand why she was trying the accent. However, the accent made it hard to hear all the words. The reader is good, just tone the accent down or remove it.
