About this listen

It begins with the murder of a New York socialite. Following the trail of the killers, Spider-Man is soon confronted by one of his oldest, deadliest enemies: the Lizard. Once a respected scientist, Dr. Curt Connors created a serum that he hoped would regenerate the arm he had lost years before. But the serum did more than regrow his arm - it turned him into the savage, human-hating creature called the Lizard.

Spider-Man pursues the Lizard from the concrete canyons of New York to the lush jungles of Mexico. Once there, he discovers not only that the Lizard is formulating a new plan to wipe out all humans but also that he now has an army of reptilian creatures ready to carry out his orders!

Story didn’t really have an ending and lizard said “now you die” too many times, like 37 time I think?
Aside from that, great book

This particular story grew harder and harder to listen to as it went on - I continued out of sheer stubbornness, rolling my eyes and groaning more and more frequently all the while. The performance isn't terrible, and the general premise is reasonable enough; but the slow, meandering plot, sloppy characterization, unsatisfying action, and lame dialogue are all shaky at best, and sometimes painful. Spider-Man's primary purpose in this story is to get his butt kicked soundly and consistently in literally every single encounter he is involved in, and I lost track of the times the Lizard uttered the line "now you die". This was the first time I have unequivocally regretted a purchase here on Audible, though I place this purely on the shoulders of the author, rather than Audible or the narrator. As a Spider-Man fan, I would not hesitate to warn others away from this particular story -"Spider-Man: Drowned in Thunder", "Untold Tales of Spider-Man" or "Ultimate Spider-Man" will be far better uses for your money or credits.

Not likely to be worth your time.

This book is more than half Peter reading Docs journals. Very little Spiderman. Very disappointed.
