Zombie Pigeons

I had to laugh when I realized a joke Peter makes in the game comes true in this story. Zombie pigeons came to life and it wasn't to bad. Narrator does an excellent job with the characters and making it feel like a Spiderman novel.

Good story, bad prequel

First off, I want to say that this story really grew on me the more I got thru it, however just like the last spider-man game prequel book, it had some minor problems and inconsistencies to the game that made it kinda hard to read. This book however takes that to a whole new level, by instead of just setting up the next game, it has major events happen that I’d claim could be the basis of a whole game itself.

I’m not saying that this book is bad or anything, in fact I actually think it’s pretty good for the most part, I just think the fact that it’s supposed to be a prequel for something is a little far fetched. I’d give this a read if you like the miles morales game, but otherwise I’d say you could skip it.

Really good appetizer for Miles’s game

The story does a lot of heavy lifting to give us a glimpse into the world Miles’s inhabits in his spinoff. Great writing by Brittany.

A fun addition to the Marvel's Spider-Man lore

Even having already played the Miles Morales game, I found alot to enjoy here. Some of it was a little much or overdone, and it isn't the same quality story as either the base SM1 or the Morales expansion, but it was still a great ride throughout and I'm happy to have listened to it. Narrator did a pretty great job capturing the voices and kept me entertained. Easy recommend.

A great story, written from the wrong perspective.

So, this for me, being a giant Spider-Man fan, was mildly a let down. The story was good, voices were alright, though, good for just one actor 😂. It’s written in the first person, so it’s weird to get used to. Like miles will say, “as I looked to my side I saw” or talking to the reader strangely. After you understand the way it was written it’s a overall good book. Give it a listen.

Entertaining Story

My son and I enjoyed listening to Miles find his vibe and voice as Spider-Man. His adventures and misadventures saving his beloved city were grounded in heart and empathy. We would recommend this story and the Jason Reynold’s Miles Morales book.

Jumping the shark in the worst way possible

This book is really bad overall the narrator does a good job and the look into Mile's early days as Spider-Man are cool and there is a good new villain for Miles to face, but it has the worst possible message curing cancer is wrong (Spoilers are in the rest of the review).

I am not joking that they are saying curing cancer is wrong there is a company that the only definitive information we are given is that they cured cancer the only things against them is one of the bad guys claim they kidnapped and killed his mom which his father says is false and the Vulture was not told what was in his cancer treatment that cured him which he consented to and is his entire motivation. Based on this you would think the company are seen as good guys and have a happy ending but no the company is shown to be in trouble it is shown as a good thing that they are and their cure for cancer is lost as proved by Kraven in Spider-Man 2, I have no idea how they can make these people seem to be bad guys.

If that was the only problem I would be mad but could overlook it if the story was good but the story jumped the shark and had a literal zombie bird virus get loose and that is going way too far and does not feel like it fits in this universe. Please get some other book or just play the games.
