A vicious serial killer named Cletus Kasady has had his body chemistry altered by an alien creature. Now, Kasady can transform into Carnage, who, along with his lethal living costume, lives for chaos and random acts of senseless, brutal murder!
Carnage has been returned to New York in chains, the subject of a daring attempt to reverse the effects of his metamorphosis. When the interference of a deranged scientist causes the experiment to go horribly wrong, Carnage is set loose upon the city once again! Now it's up to Spider-Man to stop his deadliest foe before he unleashes carnage in New York!

Paige did a great job of portraying the difficult life Peter Parker has. His struggling with being Spiderman and making money at his job, and his struggle with MJ and his relationship were really well done. The explanation of how evil Carnage is was also a high point, and really made me see him as the bad guy and a true threat to the world as well as Spiderman. Sadly, this is the end of my praise for the book.
The concept of a doctor and a bio weapon was a good idea, and while in theory should have made me worry about the possible implications, I never saw it as a threat. It was to obvious that Spiderman would fix the problem and just wasn't done well enough to make me think of it as a real problem. The combat scenes were not done the greatest as well, and while I don't expect the perfection of R. A. Salvatore on a fight description, the combat just didn't pull me in and almost felt like some way to draw out the run time. The fact that this was only a 4 hour book hurts, because it felt like it probably could have been cut down to 2.5. Everything in this book was just OK, and none of it really made me want to come back and listen to it again.
Overall, I wouldn't suggest this to anyone. If you love Spiderman then go for it, as this isn't BAD, it just isn't really good either.
Ok, but not great
