About this listen

A USA Today best seller.

Captain Calli Chase races against time to thwart a plot that leaves the fate of humanity hanging in the balance in this new thriller from international best-selling author Patricia Cornwell.

In the aftermath of a NASA rocket launch gone terribly wrong, Captain Calli Chase comes face-to-face with her missing twin sister - as well as the startling truth of who they really are. Now, a top secret program put in motion years ago has spun out of control, and only Calli can redirect its course.

Aided by cutting-edge technologies, the NASA investigator and scientist turned Space Force pilot sets out on a frantic search for the missing link between the sabotaged rocket launch and her predetermined destiny…a search that someone else seems very interested in stopping.

From NASA to the Chase family farm, to the White House to distant orbits of space, Calli plays a high-stakes game of hide-and-seek with a cunning and ruthless adversary. One wrong move will unleash cataclysmic consequences reaching far beyond the boundaries of Earth.

This heart-pounding Captain Chase thriller from Patricia Cornwell will leave readers desperate for more.

Looking forward to the next installment(s).

Note to the Author - Cape Canaveral Air Force Station (CCAFS) was renamed Cape Canaveral Space Force Station (CCSFS) in 2020.
Thank you for writing such strong, intelligent women characters.

I have to disagree with the other reviews. The plot was easy to follow, the scientific info was top notch and enthralling and I love where the story is going. A thriller novel with a strong, brilliant and bad ass female lead is more than I can ask for. Bravo to the author!

Great novel

First, the performance was very well done. Each character voice had its own identity and was overall enjoyable. I literally subtracted a whole star for the consistent use of the word "clip" to refer to pistol and rifle magazines No serious, intelligent person would do that, especially one as accomplished as our main character. The plot was timely and the story enjoyable, just too many superlative facts. It was as if there were two authors sitting across the table from each other trying to " one up" each other while writing a novel.

A good plot with too many details.

Just finished Spin. I have to say I’m much better end product than the last one. I wasn’t left feeling like I was hanging out in left field. It’s hard to get away from the Scarpetta novels after so many but I do like the captain chase Storyline. It feels like Patricia Cornwell is back! Love her books and looking forward to the next one.

This book feels WAY more Sci-Fi than thriller. I really enjoyed book one and I can't say I didn't enjoy book 2, I did. I just didn't love it. We learn more about Captain Chase, her job, her family, her dreams and ambitions and how all of those things interact. I do laugh a bit about the Space Force info. It does give a semi-plausible reason we might need one and realistically how far ahead we are of where the public thinks we are in terms of defense.

2nd book, more intrigue

I eagerly waited for this book to be released and was pleasantly surprised when it was released on Kindle Unlimited Read and Listen. I am a big Patricia Cornwell fan and January LaVoy is one of narrators I could listen to endlessly. This was book was easier to navigate than Quantum was just by layout. I have nothing negative to say about Spin at all. This is as close to a spoiler I will get...like Quantum it ends in a cliffhanger. I am not a big fan of this concept yet with this series it makes sense. If you enjoy a bit of futuristic technology and lots of suspense this is wonderful read. It is definitely not the typical Patricia Cornwell adventure. My hope is that it doesn't take a whole year for the next installment of this awesome adventure.

The story was great and was hard to put the book down. Patricia Carol mobile has always been one of my favorite authors because she writes about things in Virginia.

Hi used to live in the Tidewater area so really enjoyed the history aspect.

New mystery adventure that is relevant and probably already the real deal. Involves technology, problem solving, detailed new ideas and a women astronaut twin female team of tactical events!
