About this listen

Rey never thought she would leave the desert planet of Jakku, but her life is turned upside down when she meets BB-8, a small droid with a big secret. Like it or not, Rey is about to be caught up in something much larger than herself: a galactic war between the evil First Order and the fledgling Resistance. But something is awakening inside of Rey, something that might turn the tides of fortune in the galaxy....

I always enjoy a Star Wars story and Ms Larry is a master story teller. My only concern would be that this story is simply the Force Awakens from Rey's perspective. If you have seen the movie, this story is redundant.

Force Awakens from Rey's perspective

Basically all of Rey's scenes from The Force Awakens put into one short audio book.

this is the Force Awakens all from the view of Rey. it's fantastic and short. gave it 4 stars because now I want to watch the movie and cannot.

Rey only

The story follows The Force Awakens, but there's a few inconsistencies that are annoying. But it's a quick book to kill some time and the performance is good.

Ok, but minor inconsistencies

I do love Star Wars, I was pleased with the force awakens, but this book confused me. This book follows the journey of Rey during the events of TFA, and that's it. January LaVoy is great again showcasing she's only second in performance to the great Marc Thompson. No music or sound effects that is staple to a Lucasfilm audiobook production. Very fast listen to the point where you feel slightly cheated. Yet I really enjoyed it. Rey's character and charm has been greatly captured while we experience TFA through her eyes.

What confused me is why was this book ever written/recorded. Coming in around 1:45 of listening I can't think of what this added to the canon or fandom experience. Why retell the TFA story from the perspective of Rey (which does help you realize that she does not encounter many of the other great characters in this particular story)?

Conclusion: cash grab by the publishers knowing people like me will always be lured into anything Star Wars. Bravo publishers! I will gladly always fall for that!

... or that this book was written for kids! :)

Confusing yet rather enjoyable...
