Jake is charged with nurder!

The complete 12 book Jake Lassiter series is now available in audio with 10 of the 12 being released this year. The series novels are light and fun legal thrillers with weird but likeable characters. These are the types of novels that in the first half of the 20th century would have been serialized in magazines; the novels are interesting and often fascinating, but are not either memorable or candidates for a second reading/listening. Luke Daniels narrates 11 of the 12 books. His voice and style are perfect for the wise-cracking Jake Lassiter.

Always entertaining

Jake Lassiter finds himself as a defendant. A very unfamiliar role for him. All of the clues point to him as the prime suspect in a murder trial. His lifestyle has caught up with him. It's unclear if he can talk or think his way out prison.
The wonderful performance of Luke Daniels gives Jake a believably voice and personality that keeps me a fan.

Gritty and Intense.. !!

This is a very good book with a great story. It's a fast read, and the narration and story sweep you along. I was captivated by the story immediately. There are some common stereotypes of a crime mystery, which makes it a little predictable at times. However, it is a fun read that is well worth the time.

Excellent read and excellent listen..

So, I started with book 10 of the Jake Lassiter series and I can tell you they are standalone stories. The reason I started with this one was because our hero was accused of murdering his girlfriend and, of course, we all know he was innocent.

This was all about who killed Pamela? Carlos Castillo, the Columbian drug lord, Eddie Novak, the Ponzi schemer, Mike Crowder, Pamela’s stalker, or Barry Samchick, the accountant.

This was a great courtroom drama and I enjoyed every bit of it.

There was no sex but the F-bomb was used 6 times.

As to the narration: Luke Daniels is a wonderful narrator. Yeah, he needs a little help with his female voices but he does everything else so well that I can overlook that.
