About this listen

No way. No how. Never. And if he calls me darlin' one more time...

He pushes buttons I didn't even know I had. Gabe freaking Barin. Fire to my ice. Walking mountain. Growly, alpha, and achingly kind. Last man on earth I want in my life.

But I've got three heaping problems: 1. My baby niece is missing. 2. Some psycho just slashed up my car. 3. My boss made Gabe my personal protector.

I'm a big girl in a tiny package. Sharp claws. Perfectly capable. So I'll ignore the jaw-dropping banter Goliath drops. I'll ignore how his Louisiana drawl melts damn near everything. I'll ignore how he's five times my size.

I'll even ignore the night hate gets complicated. Then our battle moves between the sheets. Gabe gives me a hundred new toe-curling reasons to curse his name. But there's one nagging thing I can't fight. What if Gabe freaking Barin is more than a gorgeous bad habit? What if he's the hero I never knew I'd need?

From Wall Street Journal best-selling author Nicole Snow - enemies-to-lovers to dynamite. Watch this lovable giant tear the world apart to claim his Pixie. Full-length romance novel with fireworks aplenty and the grand finale Happily Ever Afters should be.

Will keep you on your toes!!

This book is packed with so many twist and turns you won't figure out who did it until the end. It is definitely a page turner and a must read for anyone who likes a steamy romance with lots of suspense.

Beautifully narrated story

Nicole Snows story is beautifully written lending a warmth and the timber of the male narrators voice enhances the stories resonance with the reader. You fall in love as you listen to beautiful words drawled out explaining places and feelings and situations. The female narrators voice is edgy and anxious expressing the stress of the story. She engages you and draws you in. It’s a romance but the circumstances that Gabe and Skylar meet are because of Skylars nieces abduction and her need but not want of protection. Gabe is the southern gentleman with a military backstory and Skylar is a tough intense female working in a mans world with a chip on her shoulder. Their similarities are intense as are their differences. The story is engaging and enhanced by the narration.

Good story but I could not get pass the narrator

I loved the story but the male narrator's voice sounds a little to mature. The voice of Sky sounds to be in her late 20's to early 30's but Gabe sounds to be in his 60's. Not a good voice match.

Ohhhh! The ear candy...

4.5 credit worthy ⭐⭐⭐⭐
First let me say the narration really did it's part to enhance this story. Jim Steele, especially with his execution of Gabe's accent, was spot on. His deep, rich tamber with the lilt of Louisiana made me nostalgic for my time living in the South. I may have found a new favorite even as this was the first narration of his I've heard. But now I will actively seek out more.

Skyler "Sky" Szabo & Gabe
This book is part of a four part series centered around the characters at a security firm called Enguard. But I Stumbled across this title first and thus read it as a standalone, though I didn't find that that caused any confusion. And now that I've met Skyler, Gabe and some of the supporting characters, I can't say that I'm not intrigued about learning more about the whole cast of characters at Enguard. But first, Skyler and Gabe. I always enjoy reading a strong heroine and Skyler is that. She's what's I'd describe as a tough broad and she has her reasons. But she does have a soft place inside her for her small immediate family whom she loves fiercely. When one of those family members goes missing, that soft spot gets reinforced by the immovable force that is the tough broad and she's a woman on a mission. Enter Gabe with his Louisiana drawl, and Southern gentlemanly ways, and fresh perspective. He sees a possible kindred spirit in this isolated, petite, prickly, determined woman. Whereas Skyler sees just another big man who'll lead brawn first and get in her way. But Gabe is a patient, good humored soul who's steadfast in staying his course. He slowly but surely works his way past Sky's defenses and under her skin throughout their search.

Wow! Best Narration Ever!

I liked the book a lot, but I was blown away by the narration! Jim and Aubrey were both great. I especially liked Jim's southern gentleman voice. At first I was thrown thinking Gabe's voice was too low and mature for a young man. Then I thought about the skinny pipsqueak boys in the bass section of my high school choir and remembered how all of us girls would turn around and stare at them when they started singing hardly believing that sound was coming out of their mouths. Sometimes it took a while for their bodies to catch up with their voices!

Really, a Great Listen....

I just loved this book. The characters were fun, stern but soft heroine and the great southern gentleman. I loved the male narrator and thought his character's outlooks were hilarious. I sorta saw the bad guy early on.
