Awesome listen.

I have always been fascinated by ancient Greeks and Roman. Stoicism is one of the ancient philosophies mastered by Greeks and Romans. Life often comes to a standstill when nothing at all feels alright. It is like Goddot's, " Nobody comes and nobody goes. nothing happens". It is during those times that the things we have heard, seen or felt lift us up. The questions like, " Why are we here" and " What is the purpose of our lives have been the most difficult questions asked by generations before us.

Very easy book.

When thinking in terms of philosophy stoicism should come to mind. It is the backbone of Greek philosophy and teaches a tangible idea that virtue the highest good is based on learned behavior. This book explores those teaching in an in-depth and practical manner. It delves into philosophy from a different point of view and teaches techniques most people are not familiar with like living a purposeful life and not conforming to most traditional practices. My favorite chapter was the one on Apatheia which is the practice of living a life filled with making the right choices and ethics being at the core of those choices.

This book so well explains

This book so well explains and so full of information about the early stoics and the major themes of stoicism. Has a great deal of information other books on stoicism don't have. Not much to add to the other great reviews.

This is a very good introduction to Stoicism.

This is a very good introduction to Stoicism, with a good mix of direct quotes and explanations. There are a few typos and editing miscues, but the overall content is still solid.

I would recommend for anyone.

While believing that moral goodness is necessary to achieve happiness is common ground, Stoicism goes deeper than that. This book takes us on a journey starting with the beginning of stoicism and going on into its relation to cosmology, theology, and psychology. It touches on the view that the world is a unity. We all have everything to do with the cause and effect that brings our world to where it is today. We all have a purpose and duty to the place that we live. I have always been interested in Stoicism quotes in general and this book has a surplus of amazing faces in history contributing to that. I would recommend for anyone looking to touch upon the topic or out of mere interest. George Tanner’s imagery is beyond explanation. Can’t wait to listen to what’s next!

Great topic.

Philosophy can be a tough pill to swallow, it can be hard to understand if not delivered in a way that is simple and to the point, and that’s exactly what this book does for the topic of stoicism, something I’ve learned about before not never in-depth like this. Stoicism is the idea that you must be virtuous and overcome negativity in your own life, which can be hard in and of itself, but the author creates such a dynamic idea about the philosophy that it can be used by anyone. The Greek history is interesting, and the beliefs are enlightening.

Great book.

This book was given to me at a conference by a friend, and unfortunately, I damaged it so I bought a copy on Amazon. It was well worth it but I do wish I bought a physical copy so that I could pass it on.

I am easily overwhelmed by topics.

Normally I am easily overwhelmed by topics pertaining to philosophy, but the explaining style of this particular book kept me turning the pages. It is well explained, informative, interesting, and covers all the important aspects of stoicism. It was easy to listen and understand. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in philosophical matters! I will surely be keeping an eye out for other explains by the author George Tanner.
