About this listen

The winds of change are blowing, bringing gentrification to Callahan Garrity's funky Atlanta neighborhood. Though it probably won't harm her House Mouse housecleaning service, not everyone welcomes the rebirth. And when the body of a murdered microbrewer is discovered in the aftermath of a furious Halloween gale, suspicion falls on the aging "flower child" shopkeeper whom the victim put out of business.

A former cop, Callahan isn't as quick to condemn a colorful local character as some law officers still on the force. But her investigative zeal is stirring up secrets that are forcing her to reassess old friendships and a one-time love - and is brewing up more lethal trouble than Callahan and her "mice" can safely swallow.

Great story, I could listen to more books by Hillary Huber! I've read all the other books in this series too and I've enjoyed them all so far.

Great book!!!

The story is great— and the narrator’s accents are great— but her pronunciation of Ponce de Leon, kudzu, Birmingham, MARTA, were off. It was kind of funny, though.

Great story

Narrator needs to pronounce southern words correctly. Kudzu and Birmingham especially! I enjoyed the story otherwise.

Fun read

It takes awhile to get going but doesn’t disappoint.
Callahan is back! Minding her own business as usual. Lol. Enjoy!

Twists galore!

This is a nearly 30 year old book so there are noticeable changes in attitudes and technology but for all that, the story hangs together well. I liked the main character; loved Edna and “the girls”. And it has a crackerjack ending that makes every minute of listening worthwhile.

Terrific ending
