About this listen

Deputy Sheriff, Quincey Morris, thought the low point of his week was the twilight shootout between Albuquerque's rival drug gangs, but he was wrong. All of Quincey's training could not prepare him for the confrontation with the vengeful Morgan Stregocia. She has devoted herself to hunting down the descendants of Van Helsing's original "vampire slayers" who destroyed the legendary Dracula more than a century ago. Quincey must save himself and his family from the evil seductress and prevent her from using his great-grandfather's Bowie knife to spill innocent blood in an attempt at reviving the long dead Prince of Darkness.

Pretty good vamp story

I really enjoyed the first 2/3rds of this book but the ending fell a little flat for me. It felt a bit contrived and forced. But enjoyed the narration and characters until that point.

Continuation of the Dracula tale

I enjoyed this book overall. It's basically a continuation or offshoot of the original Bram Stoker story set in modern times. The author did well to give the same feel of the Stoker original, though the story came across as a mystery more than a horror at times, and the main characters are well written and kept you interested. The book was very well narrated by Skyler Morgan.

If you are interested in vampire novels this is definitely a book you should read, you won't be disappointed.

I thought this was a cool follow up tale to Van Helsing and Dracula. I thought it was narrated well and an all around enjoyable experience.

Predictable yet original

I read Doors Without End and enjoyed it. I decided to give this book a try when the opportunity was offered to me.

The book starts with a priest and a mysterious man who is in poor shape. The priest helps this man on the condition he confesses. The mysterious man (Quincy) then recounts the tale of how he came to be in his current state. Once his story catches up to the present time, the priest (Father Jacobson) accompanies Quincy on his quest to stop Strega (the vampire) and rescue his wife and daughter. In the process, he learns Strega has come to Albuquerque to find the descendants of Van Helsing and the people who had slain Dracula.

This book is predictable and unoriginal in many ways, yet, original in other ways. I can't elaborate or I'll give too much away. I had things figured out but, continued to listen just in case I had not. Also, Quincy and Father Jacobson were good characters that I needed to know what was going to happen to them. I wanted to listen to the end.

The narrator (Morgan) did a good job bringing the characters to life. Despite a few characters being written as having an accent, the narrator read all characters fairly the same. There were a few times that this was distracting.

This being my second Bamberg story, I would listen to another.
I would listen to this narrator again.

Strega

This was the Dracula story in a new book. The writing went from ok,to overblown to sounding like it was written for kids in the same paragraph.I was not impressed with the narration by Skyler Morgan. It sounded like he was not familiar with the pronunciation of many words. The narration was slow,I actually had to speed it up to be able to get through it.It also went from emotional to a very dry reading.Nothing was consistent.“I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.”

An Awesome Listen

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request, and have voluntarily left this review. There is nothing better than a good vampire story and this one is great. The characters are nice normal people with a secret legacy. The tale is fast paced and intriguing. Little hints of the truth are given to create suspense. Overall you just want to keep listening to see what happens next.

Entertaining Vampire Story

A secret family legacy comes back to haunt Quincy Morris in an unexpected way. Will Quincy carry on the legacy or will he fail?

I liked how this tied in with the original Dracula tale. The story was entertaining and had some interesting characters. The ending was a little predictable but still enjoyable. The narration was good but there were several mispronounced words. If you're looking for a modern day Dracula tale, I would recommend this.
