With her father's help and that of the residents at Royal Hills Nursing Home, she thrives and goes on to become a successful baker. She is content with her life but knows that she and her daughter Candy are missing something. Will things change for the better when Trent Childress moves into town and adds some spice to her sugar?

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I would recommend this book to be read to a friend, not listen to the narration as I just felt the narrator did not do this book justice.Any additional comments?
Sugar & Spice is a novella written by R.E. Hargrave and narrated by David L. White. The author did an awesome job in writing about single mom, Lacey Harrison. Lacey had events happen in high school that could have re-wrote her life, but with the support of her father and the residents of the nursing home her father works at, Lacey was able to finish high school and open her own bakery all while raising her daughter, Candace. Even though for ten years she felt as if something was missing, she didn’t realize what that was until Trent Childress moves into town to be near his mother who is a resident of the nursing home. The story moved at a steady pace with events, not to fast or slow. The relationship between Lacey and Trent felt natural and the supporting characters just added to the story. What I struggled with was the narration of the story. In my opinion the narrator did not do a great job in changing the sound of his voice between the different characters. Since the story is told in dual points of views there were many times that as a new chapter started it took several minutes to realize which point of view the story was being told in and that took away from listening to the story, as the flow was lost while trying to figure this out. For me, the narration just did not fit this short and sweet story many times.Great Story

Where does Sugar & Spice rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
My list is pretty short with only 4 books. Going on just the narration I would put it in the number 2 spot. What did you like best about this story?
It is a quick read and yet you get a full sense of the characters. I like that it tells the story of both the lead characters points of view without just repeating the same scentesWhat about David L. White’s performance did you like?
I liked that he changed voices for characters. That he added the emotional undertones to the his narration. He really brought the characters to life. Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
This would be a spoiler so I do not want to list my favorite scene.A sweet and endearing story

What did you love best about Sugar & Spice?
It was a short and sweet romance. The story stayed at a steady pace. It's perfect for a quick read.Which scene was your favorite?
The romantic evening Trent arranged for Lacey on the screened in porch. Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I was nearly brought to tears when Lacey and Candy returned home from their mother/daughter trip and the storm damage to their home and town. But what really got to me was when Lacey went to find Trent and he told her about her father, Shane having his heart attack. That was a hard scene to read for me for some reason.Any additional comments?
Beautifully written story. Even though it is short it doesn't lack in any way to develop the characters growth and progression of the story.Gift from a Facebook Giveaway.

Heartwarming, believable, romanticWhat did you like best about this story?
The characters! What does David L. White bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
This was my first 'listen' to one of David's narrations. I found his voice to be very easy to listen to.Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The interaction between Candy and Trent was so touching.Any additional comments?
At first, I was shocked to hear a male narration of this book. It took me a while to realize that this narrator was reading a story to me...once I settled in, the story flowed beautifully and I found his voice to be very easy to listen to. The fact that he had such a great story to narrate had a lot to do with it ;)I like how the story was set in a small town - I think it was the perfect town and setting for the story. Moreover, I love how the author developed believable characters who tug at your heart strings.
