About this listen

Lady Ammalie Avington, Baroness of Faebarrow, has discovered the truth, and it should not come as a surprise: the blood mage who threatened, spellbound, and abducted her intends to bring ruin to the realm—the very one she is sworn to serve. It's just a terribly inconvenient fact to learn because, well . . . he's rather cute.

But it's not safe to pine after the son of a demon, especially not whilst locked up in a tower surrounded by infernal beings and a rival for your affection, nor trapped below ground in a den of beguiling vampires, nor even in the heart of a wild jungle under the tutelage of esoteric witches. Amma just can't help herself around Damien Maleficus Bloodthorne, danger be damned, but, truly, what danger is there? Damien's heart, the one he swears to not have, has been softening right before her eyes. Nevermind the weird smoke that sometimes unwittingly emanates from his hands or that faraway look he gets to his eyes, and a voice she can't hear telling him that he's meant to be a vessel?

Surely it's all just a bad dream. After finally tasting freedom and learning that Amma may have ancient, innate magical powers of her own, why not use them to do exactly as she pleases?

Sweet, romantic and funny

I love the characters and the quick wit of the story. The only thing I didn’t like was the cliffhanger ending but it is still a great series to read in between serious books.

Book 2 did not disappoint!!

Ugh I love this story so much and I will be devastated when I finish the last book! I love a good slow burn and this series have given us a great one! I love the banter, the fact that the MFC isn’t annoying or dumb, the MMC is the perfect mix of evil-but-not-really for me and of course I love all the tropes!! Also, the voice actors are so perfect!! This one will be on my repeat list for sure!

Good fun

Loved the playfulness of these books and the narration is outstanding. Both voice actors bring it to life!

A very solid 2nd entry!

A fun wild ride, slow burn, romantasy without glaring plot holes or terrible writing that takes you out of the story?!? Yes please!!

Absolutely Fantastic

I just discovered this series 3 days before the audiobook for Summoned to the Wilds was released. I devoured the first in the series, Throne in the Dark, in one day, and waited two very impatient days for the second audiobook to release.

The blend of humor, tension, and romance is sheer perfection. The main characters are excellent examples of grumpy/ sunshine without being obnoxious, and while there is a bit of "OMG just talk to each other already" it's not too overdone and the important things get resolved fairly quickly.

There are steamy bits but not over the top, and the "damsel in distress" does plenty of saving herself. The worldbuilding is top-notch, and would make an excellent setting for a D&D campaign. In fact, the whole story feels like a D&D campaign blended with romance and it's just a ton of fun.

I'd absolutely reccomend this to lovers of romantic fantasy and adventure novels.

Continues to be amazing

Sad that I only have one audiobook left. The voice actors for Amma and Damien are so good. The series is delightful, why can’t there be more books like these out there??

I thought I couldn’t love this book more

Oh. My. GOoDness. Give Ellen Quay an award. I loved both narrators but she takes it to a WHOLE ‘nother level, I even adored her male characters and I normally cringe when female narrators do impressions of males. And her voicing Lycoris - when I read the book before the audio, I had a different idea of what her accent was but the way she did it was hilarious and fit perfectly!! Every character was distinct and so nuanced with detail, and I actually loved her Damien and Xander’s voices. Thank you for making one of my favorite series even better! I already preordered the last audiobook, I can’t wait!
