About this listen

No electricity. No running water. No food. No end in sight. If life as you knew it changed in an instant, would you be prepared?

In A. American's first novel, Going Home, listeners were introduced to Morgan Carter, the resourceful, tough-as-nails survivalist who embarks on a treacherous 250-mile journey across Florida following the collapse of the nation's power grid. Now reunited with his loving wife and daughters in this follow-up to Going Home, Morgan knows that their happiness is fleeting, as the worst is yet to come. Though for years Morgan has been diligently preparing for emergency situations, many of his neighbors are completely unready for life in this strange new world - and they're starting to get restless.

With the help of his closest companions, Morgan fights to keeps his home secure - only to discover shocking information about the state of the nation in the process.

this is not the best written story out there, this author presents this story like it is a first draft, and it is still great. If you are into the prepper world and feel that the current government is to intrusive, you will love this book, it is overall a great story from the first book and continues into this second story as well. The author is way into the tech of prepping, as are a lot of preppers, so for that audience it is great. If you are not a prepper then this book will outline at least one scenario for your fate, and it is that of the silly little totalitarian who thinks that "resource sharing" is now the current plan since you were to busy laughing at those who were diligent and put resources into the rainy day fund. This is a fun book and it brings to focus all the big gov plans for those who are content with watching T.V. and hitting the pipe, hey, if you like your current lifestyle you can keep your current lifestyle - what ever!
Highly recommended

I am still right there with this story

So he's gotten home, and now things are getting a bit hairy, now what?

A. American does a great job getting you into the story, and keeping you there. It's not like your an outsider, listening to a story, you're there and watching it; you're going to start to try and "think in front of the story", asking yourself "what about this?", "how would I react?", "People are really going to act this way".

Looking forward to book 4.

I don't want to give too much away

This story really hits close to home. I happen to live less than an hour from the setting of the main character's home. This really helped connect me to the story. I have even been inspired to start prepping. Nowhere near the level of the book, but I won't be 100% off guard should anything along the lines of the novel occur. My further reviews will be very similar as I sped though the series and didn't stop with each to leave individualized reviews. They were just too good to wait.

This is the continues the adventures, hardships and triumphs of the survivors of the fall. It keeps you engaged and keeps introducing new and interesting characters to add to the overall flavor of the story.

The saga continues

After finishing the first one I bought the second one without thinking. Did this one take a dark turn but was so enjoyable to hear what happened to these characters after they arrived home. Read very well and great pace. I recommend this if you have already heard the first one.

Enjoyable

Worth the credits so far and I am going for #3. Can listen to Duke for hours. Would like to put a face with the voice. Makes me wonder if I would be tough to survive the same. 'Nuff said!

Would you listen to Surviving Home again? Why?

I would listen again. Author has the ability to tell a great story and build characters at the same time.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Morgan & Sarg.

What about Duke Fontaine’s performance did you like?

Duke Fontaine can put a twist on each character, very good performance.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Can you Survive?

Any additional comments?

I'm on book six now and love the series......my wife has actually started listening and is hooked on the characters.

Great Charactor building

this series is good . but, some of the military terms are not correct. second, the descriptive moments in the book are too detailed to the point of boredom. oh by the way. carbine is pronounced carbeen not carbyne. alot of little things the are a little annoying. but, i like like the story and the actor. good book. just needs fine tuning.

series is good, but,
