About this listen

When FBI agent Grayson Kincaid first encounters Olivia MacKenzie, she makes quite an impression. The beautiful, tough young attorney has stumbled into the middle of an FBI sting operation and reduced it to chaos. Months of surveillance and careful planning down the drain, Kincaid’s partner is furious and lets Olivia know that she’s ticked off the wrong guy. After all, he’s FBI.

But Olivia isn’t intimidated by his partner’s bullying because she’s something even scarier...she’s IRS.

And working for the IRS is no picnic. She’s on the trail of an elaborate Ponzi scheme, one that threatens to ruin the lives of naive and unsuspecting victims, and one she has personal reasons to be angry about. But after she asks the wrong people questions, her life is suddenly endangered. She’s accustomed to looking out for others who are weak, but being vulnerable herself makes her realize she needs help. In desperation, she calls Grayson Kincaid.

Together they join forces to fight corruption, but Olivia is also fighting the immediate and intense attraction she feels for Agent Kincaid, and that may be a battle she is bound to lose.

hard to listen to

The story was probably good, but the reading was so choppy that it was hard to follow the plot & characters & to care about any of it.

Narrator

Did not realize that it was an abbreviated version. But at least with a shortened version, I didn't have to suffer through the narration going on for hours longer. It sounded as if the narrator was reading the book for the first time...boring and painful. The only reason I finished the listen was that the storyline was good.

Narration stinks

worse narrator ever. she should not be reading romance mysteries. She used no empathy or feelings into the book.

Need to Read the Auabridged

When I purchased this I didn't realize it was abridged - I listened to it and while the story was progressing it felt like I was missing many of the traditional Julie Garwood touches in her books. I'm going to read the book which comes out in paperback Tuesday and will then write a more indepth review - for now, I'd skip this version and get it unabridged if available.

Disappointed

I had read the book years ago and a lot of it was left out. Didn’t enjoy it as much as I thought I would.

Missing half of the story

The kindle version tells about the other pips and has a huge story line about Jane.

not so good.

What would have made Sweet Talk better?

different narrator.

Would you be willing to try another book from Julie Garwood? Why or why not?

yes

How did the narrator detract from the book?

she paused too much! it sounded like she was reading the book one sentence at a time. most narrators sound like they are telling a story,

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

yes. the story was ok.

Any additional comments?

the narrator was awful, her style is annoying. it sounded like she was trying to drag out the book to make it last the 5 hours. i will ........ never listen..........to a book................she narrates................ again.

Not the full story

I have read this story multiple times and had it downloaded with whisper sync. When I went to reread and listen to it it wouldn’t download. I bought the audible version and was sorely disappointed. A lot of the interesting stuff was left out. It was definitely not worth using one of my credits. I recommend you read the book. It is so much better whole!

Narrator

Struggled through this book due to narrator. Her voice and reading skills made it drone on. The author, who I love, should have stuck to the narrator from the first books who was fantastic. A narrator can ruin a book for sure.

Very Disappointed

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

I didn't realize this was an abridged version of the novel when I purchased it. Because I read the book and listen when I can't physically read it, it really messed me up. As a result, it became useless as it skipped so much of the book. I rated the book excellent because it is a good book -- just not the audible version.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Record it unabridged.

What does Angela Dawe bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Angela Dawe did a great job narrating the book and again if I had the whole book, I would have listened to it more.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

None
