Publisher's summary

Everyone's favorite lethal SecUnit is back in the next installment in Martha Wells's New York Times bestselling Murderbot Diaries series.

Am I making it worse? I think I'm making it worse.

Following the events in Network Effect, the Barish-Estranza corporation has sent rescue ships to a newly-colonized planet in peril, as well as additional SecUnits. But if there’s an ethical corporation out there, Murderbot has yet to find it, and if Barish-Estranza can’t have the planet, they’re sure as hell not leaving without something. If that something just happens to be an entire colony of humans, well, a free workforce is a decent runner-up prize.

But there’s something wrong with Murderbot; it isn’t running within normal operational parameters. ART’s crew and the humans from Preservation are doing everything they can to protect the colonists, but with Barish-Estranza’s SecUnit-heavy persuasion teams, they’re going to have to hope Murderbot figures out what’s wrong with itself, and fast!

Yeah, this plan is... not going to work.

Performed by David Cui Cui, Debi Tinsley, Elena Anderson, Bradley Foster Smith, Christopher Walker, Eric Messner, Eva Wilhelm, Karen Novack, Ken Jackson, Khaya Fraites, Laura C. Harris, Lydia Kraniotis, Nanette Savard, Richard Rohan, Scott McCormick, Stewart Crank, Thomas Penny, Triya Leong, Yasmin Tuazon and Zeke Alton.

Better if just narrated

I know these books are all similar but I still enjoy them and the title character. But having the other voices which were not that good, and music which detracted, I’ll stick with plain narration, thank you.

definitely the weakest in the series

after enjoying nearly every single book in the series rating it from 4 to 5 stars, I couldn't for the life of me get into this one. not a single joke was funny. The story was completely uninteresting. I'm sorry to say felt robotic. it's as if you fed an AI the entirety of the series thus far and asked it to write the next book. I think I'm done with the series after this. there's no coming back from a stinker like this.

Dramatizations is a disaster

A good authors work and great story ruined by a narrator change and pretenious dramatization. just stick to the original narrator. He was great. this version looses literally all the charm and character of the original narrator preformance. its frankly annoying to listen to. it would put me off buying any future installments unless it reverts to the original voice actor. the background music is unnecessary, too loud and straight up distracting. no one wants dramatisations. if we wanted that we'd just watch movies with our eyes closed.
