About this listen

The first time I met sexy Stanton Baines, I nearly swallowed my tongue.

But that was before he opened his mouth and directed his insolent comments at me.

Not one to back down from a clash, I fired right back.

From then on, Stanton pursued me with a vengeance.

The first thing I learned was he discarded women like gum wrappers.

Second, the control freak thought he could dominate me.

That billionaire might be the boss of everybody else, but he was never going to be my bosshole.

Nor was I going to be one of his crumpled-up gum wrappers.

My heart had been trampled on enough.

Mr. Baines would not be adding his shoeprints to it.

Except he didn’t give up.

The more I sassed, the more he chased.

After he had me wrapped around his pinkie, he left…as in, poofed right out of the country without so much as a farewell.

I figured we were over.

Boy, was I ever wrong.

I had completely underestimated the man, and that alphahole was about to bring me to my knees...unless I did it to him first.

Tall, Dark, and Bossy is the first novel in the Baines Family Series. It is a complete stand-alone with a happily ever after.

Ok for fiction but…

Please ladies, don’t stay with a man like this main character. Sweet baby Jesus, there were so many red flags. This guy was more than one step too far from the possessive and into the psycho territory.

But for a book, eh. It was ok.

A few minor changes and this could have been excellent

I almost didn’t purchase this one (I typically don’t buy books with less than a 4.4/4.5 overall rating. However, I generally enjoy Hargrove’s writing. I can say that I definitely understand why some readers would view the storyline as less than favorable. There were a few things that drove me crazy. While the characters started out very likable, the tables eventually turned. Stacy made some poor choices and Stanton went from dreamy to douchey in 2.5 seconds. Hargrove really pushed her luck on reader approval with this - Stanton personified a true villain, an actual devil before things got better. And oh Stacy, I thought you were strong? What an embarrassment this h made of herself caving to this man after all the things he did to control her. I cringed. Literally. Cringed. The positives are that the story held my interest and I was happy with how everything turned out in the end. Regarding the narration, the female reader is certainly not my favorite but did a decent job. I personally found that her voice was more palatable at 1.3-1.4 speed. Not too fast but I preferred the flow better at this speed. The male narrator did a good job. This was a 3 star listen for me.

Eh

From start to finish I did not care for this one. I thought the story was not well written and the narration was immature. I agree with a couple of the other comments that the side stories weren’t developed at all - the stalker/violent ex for example. I also didn’t care for Stanton - his personality was back and forth. He’s in love, no he’s not. He wants Stacy, no he doesn’t. He’s a hero and strong personality- NO he isn’t. Just not at all well done. Just a BLAH book. Don’t waste your time or your credit.

Terrible!!!

The story could have been good but the stupid crap like the dangerous ex which was barely a blip and the male main characters behavior that wasn’t any better than the ex was ridiculous. The female narrator was soooo bad. The book might have been a little better without her. There was something real odd about her voice
