About this listen

“You’ll laugh, you’ll swoon, and you’ll root for Pearl and Cord’s happy ending."New York Times bestselling author Carley Fortune

Eight years ago, he fell in love with a stranger he couldn’t have—today, she’s back in his life and the sparks between them threaten to set her career on fire.

Pearl Harris has learned the hard way to be careful in work and in love. She has the chance to make lasting change at OurCode—a nonprofit aimed at inspiring high schoolers to code—but a recent scandal puts its reputation at risk. Further complicating things, Pearl didn't expect the one man she never stopped thinking about to join as the newest member of her board of directors.

Cord Matthews fell for Pearl when they met in an elevator eight years ago. She’s just his type: smart, capable, and makes him laugh, but when she broke his heart, he decided love wasn't for him. When they reconnect after years with no contact, Cord is tempted to consider breaking his ban on serious relationships. But going public with a romance between them might derail Pearl’s career and the progress she’s made at OurCode.

While Pearl and Cord are both hesitant to trust their feelings and take a risk, it soon becomes impossible to keep ignoring the electricity between them. Cord is a skilled programmer, but a workplace romance might spell disaster for both of them--and love isn’t easily debugged.©2023 Denise Williams (P)2023 Penguin Audio

Critic reviews

“Realistic conflict along with searing emotion and flashbacks to Pearl and Cord's first go-round make for a uniquely terrific romance."Booklist

"Williams uploads her best yet contemporary romance, full of complex characters, the highs and lows of being a Black woman in STEM, and plenty of steam. Recommend to readers who enjoyed Jasmine Guillory and Chloe Liese."Library Journal (starred review)

"If, hypothetically, Denise Williams decided to establish an academy (let’s call it The University of DW) and offered courses on how to write pent-up sexual tension, steamy banter, and enemies to lovers, I would burst into the classroom and yell “TAKE MY MONEY!!” The writing is unmatched, the chemistry is on fire, and Do You Take This Man has one of the steamiest, most addictive, most satisfyingly hard-earned happily-ever-after I’ve read in ages!"—Ali Hazelwood, New York Times bestselling author of The Love Hypothesis

Sweet, steamy, and well-written

The dual POVs and dual timelines were well done. Excellent narration by the always fab Joe Arden, and the female narrator was good too.

Unpopular Opinion

I've read this author before but I was disappointed with this book. Only three chapters in and I can't go on. DNF.

Loved it. Pearl & Cord deserve to be together with each other. (AGS) I’m glad they overcame the obstructions to their relationship, both work-related and self-imposed.

Loving these books!

This is now my 3rd book of Williams and this is now my second favorite couple! Britta and Wes are still at the top but Pearl and Cord are a close 2nd! So happy she did a spin off of these two and with a lot more spice! Well done!! I loved the relationship with Pearl and her sisters ( they were hilarious) and I didn’t mind the they/them pronouns. Ti (sp?) was a great kid! This was my first book that I have read to use them and I didn’t mind it at all, I applaud it! I wonder if she will write a book about another one of the Harris sisters…

almost had it.

the storyline was perfect but the 1 on 1 conversations I didn't like it. if it was a conversation between both the male and female narrators it would have been explosively better. the narrators did do a good job but it would have been better if they were together.

Good read

This was a great book to read however, the female lead character was a little bit frustrating for me. She seem to give everybody a chance, except for the person that actually she was in love with. It was very frustrating to understand her character.

LOVE these Narrators.

I love Denise Williams's writing! She always has the swooniest storylines. Technically Yours was a great second-chance romance with incredible banter and a ton of diverse characters! I totally related to our two MCs and I loved the techie/nerdy vibes. Cord and Pearl were so much fun. I thought they both showed growth throughout the book.

If you've read The Fastest Way to Fall, you will recognize a few characters in Technically Yours. I loved these little easter eggs from Denise Williams's other books. I received this ARC from NetGalley, but I also listened to the audiobook. Joe Arden and January LaVoy did a wonderful job with the narration.

Enjoyed the book but felt a bit drag

I enjoyed the book in beginning but there were times it felt drag and the main character I didn’t really see character growth with pearl throughout the book. Overall it was Good

Predictable and Light

This was a decent book. The flashbacks got to be a bit much, however they helped a bit.
