About this listen

Widowed at thirty-three with two small kids, Beverly Simpson wants someone to blame. Angry, hurt, and full of regret for what she’s lost, she rails against a once trusted God and hides her loneliness behind a sassy exterior.

Joe Clark, intrigued by Bev’s irreverent approach to life, stubbornly pursues her.

However, the pair have two very different outlooks on life. Joe is a dedicated preacher, while Bev insists she no longer even believes in God. Despite being polar opposites, they can’t hide their attraction to each other, but reconciling their beliefs may be harder than they imagined. Will faith and love be enough to mend a damaged heart?

Originally published in 1987, Tempted is an inspiring story of betrayal and trust.

Perfectly Human with a religious thread

This book was spot on. The push and pull of the two main characters kept me intrigued. I would love a sequel

Old book

I love Robyn Carr but this is my least favorite book. The main character is hard to like and not in love with this story line.

An age old story of a widowed mother with children.

The main character is immature and inundated with guilt about her sexuality. That’s a preacher who pursue her endlessly patient. I loved his character.

Disappointed

I want to start by saying that I absolutely adore Robyn Carr. I have listened to almost every single book she has written, and I recommend her books to everyone. I have yet to find an author whose books I enjoy as much as hers. That being said, this book was very disappointing. The main character was very unlikable—to an extreme level—and the story was difficult to get through. I’m glad this book was relatively short because, if it had been any longer, I wouldn’t have made it. That being said, this one book doesn’t change my adoration for Robyn Carr as an author; I just recommend reading her other books. :)

Least favorite Robyn Carr Book

I LOVE Robyn Carr and especially when Therese Plummer is the narrator. This book was hard for me to listen to. The female lead character was not realistic IMO. It did get better as the book went on.
