Children are being murdered.

I am not usually into this genre, but a friend recommended the That Ghoul, Ava series to me, so I decided to give it a shot. I am glad I did! Author TW Brown weaves a fun bit of yarn that involves a tapestry of characters, including a cold and sardonic supernatural psychic, an overly confident Queen of the Zombies, a couple hot (but not sparkling) vampires, a templar-in-training, and of course, That Ghoul, Ava.

I originally read the books, and liked them so much, that when I got the chance to listen to and review the series on Audible, I leapt at the chance.

Ava becomes a Ghoul in the first book of the series. Her inner monologue is an adventure all on its own. She may or may not have a raging case of ADHD, which makes her an easy to identify with character for me. Her mind-wandering inner monologues rival that of JD on the TV show, Scrubs.

The cast of characters are fun and interesting, especially the way Ava describes them. Combine all of the above with a nice dose of '80s music fangirling, and you've got a recipe for a great listen.

Pamela Lorence does a nice job of narrating the stories, though I must say that my mind's voice for Ava was a lot more droll and Daria-like. Even so, I think she was a good choice for Ava's audiobook presence.

Something that is an added bonus is that the author of the series is on Facebook, and he is very nice, likes input, and actually replies when you write on his wall. It's not too often that you can have actual contact with writers of the books you're reading! You should just go ahead and use your credits or buy the series now. You can't go wrong. Fun books! I hope TW Brown does more with Ava.

I love Ava.I love her sharkmouth.She has friends with cool names.She goes on adventures to save her friends.This is one of those adventures.She runs afoul of her neighbors too.I wouldn't let my dog poop in her yad again.lol Pamela Lorence IS Ava,as well as everyon else she narrates. I was given this book by the narrator,author or publisher free for an honest review.

That Ghoul Ava... On The Lam is the fifth book in TW Brown's That Ghoul Ava series. This book is filled with humor, interesting and colorful characters and an entertaining story filled with paranormal goodness.

Pamela Lorence narrates this story and makes it so easy to just get lost in the story. The voices match what my mind thinks these characters would sound like. Great job.

Where does That Ghoul Ava...On the Lam rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I would say this ranks somewhere in the middle, but near the top of the middle.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I love Buttpimple and nosewart. They are funny! They remind me of those dogs that are so ugly they are cute and you just can't help but want to scoop them up and cuddle.... most of the time anyway

Have you listened to any of Pamela Lorence’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

yes i have listened to a few of her other performances. I think she does great in all of them! I do like her different voices for the characters in the book

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes it was!! I wanted to know how Ava would get out of the mess she was in and how would her friends recover/survive the choices that were made. Licking Ava in the eye and all...

Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed this book. It had the whatever type attitude from Ava but it also showed a side to Ava that we haven't really seen too much towards many "people"... her caring side. She really does care for all the creatures around her. :)

T.W. Brown really hit a home run with this series. the narration is very well done, not to serious , Ava makes for a fun read

Ava saves children!

What did you like best about this story?

It was fun that Ava had a hard time with the Lamia and took a lot of damage. Not everything is cutsie but Ava comes out on top once again! Go Ava!

What about Pamela Lorence’s performance did you like?

I love listening to Pamela Lorence. She is the perfect voice of Ava,

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

I would LOVE to see an Ava film.

This series is worth a listen, just give it a try! Ava's antics will have you laughing your ass off or relating to her....either way it's a win! Plus, this is not only a good story, it's narrated by an above average story teller who truly gives the characters vitality through her gift. A great combo.
