About this listen

The long-anticipated-and hilarious-final installment in The Regency Romp Trilogy...

After the Viscount Marlowe's latest misadventure gets Miss Minerva Jones sacked from her teaching post, he hires her as a governess for his twins. Marlowe finds himself falling for the feisty bookworm - an alarming development for a man who was nearly broken by his disastrous marriage. Can he risk his heart without falling apart again?

Minerva would rather be employed by anyone other than the walking disaster that is the Viscount Marlowe, but she finds a home in Lord Marlowe's eccentric household, and loses her heart to not only the twins but also their impossible father. Will she take a chance on the viscount?

Just when their happy ending is in sight, however, Minerva discovers Marlowe's most closely guarded secret, with disastrous results. Can she ever forgive him for his deception?

(Also includes an evil duke, meddlesome friends, a randy Greek God, and a pack of rabid Misstophers.)

I really looked forward to this book because the hero (known from first 2 books in series) was so likable. In this book he bears no resemblance at all to his earlier self, and although we are told an illness has sobered him, it’s still somewhat hard to accept that it’s the same person we knew before. A few glimpses of the old Marlowe would have been welcome and made the premise more believable. The ending was very abrupt, as if the author had run out of time to finish it more fully.
The narrator sounds like a fussy old woman. Not a good voice for this kind of book.

After reading half of this book I skipped to the next to last chapter. Listening moved too slowly for me although I have loved the other books and just bought the kindle version so I can read at my pace and imagine the voices.

narrator not right for main character

Oh, Maggie Fenton! The Alabaster Hip is just as funny and romantic as the first two Regency Romps. The criminals have the perfect balance of evil and incompetence. I did read this book when it first came out as an ebook, however I really do not enjoy that format. Listening allows me to slow down and savor the language and the details.
The secondary characters enrich the story and help to complicate the plot. Several deserve their own books and I hope they are part of a forthcoming series.

Marvelous recording of a very funny book.

I loved the first two books I laughed throughout but this was especially good because the hero was such a waste in the first two , they all three were funny great reads.

Loved it

I adored this tale. Great story line with wonderful characters. Maggie Fenton is a very witty Author. I really like her sense of humor. I listened to this story through Audible. The narrator was the perfect choice to read this tale. Love, anger, heart break, conspirators, kidnapping, runaway and so much more in this lovely book. Worth reading.

A witty amazing story. Worth a read.

Sue Pitkin read first two books in series and her style made the characters so believable. As a listener I felt I was actually on scene. However (apologies Ms. Holmes) The Alabaster Hip was like enduring a scold from sanctimonious outraged old aunt. Ended up reading the book to myself. Enjoyed it but dragged somewhat in middle.

Wish author had kept same reader

I really disliked the reader at first but she really grew on me. Book was fun. Wish there were more.

Wish there were more than three in series

Astrid's personality has significantly changed. It is a great disappointment from the smart, simple, down to earth person she was in the first book to a fluffy head socialite; A person whom she would have seemed to hate to become. Sorely disappointed in her character.

I enjoyed the comedic romance of the Regency Romp trilogy but was very disappointed the narrator changed for the final installment.
