The day trip was only supposed to be a few hours. It was certainly never expected to transport the team of scientists to the previously unknown world of Ammar. Locals from the town of Alumyn take them in and help them learn their new environment.
A political power struggle, evil witches, and hostilities among the dragons of their new home threaten the visitors in ways they never could have imagined. As things grow more dangerous, the group must change their focus from getting back home to simply finding a way to survive.

Leah manages to describe everything vividly and in detail, without being overly wordy or making it boring - a skill many authors lack. Ammaran culture feels very real and fleshed out, not something that was an afterthought.
We follow a group of scientists (archaeologists, mostly, I believe) after their plane crashes and they're teleported to a mysterious world that nobody knew existed. Jen, a doctor, takes the lead when they find there's actually a population of humans on this planet, and they speak Latin. They face some struggles, adjusting to their new life, but for the most part it manages to be fairly smooth - at least until the Emperor comes to Ammar and everything gets shaken up.
I definitely want to know more about the dragons, and their role in everything. Just from the ending, I feel like they'll play a much bigger part in the next book and I can't wait.
The book does end on a cliffhanger (😠) so be warned - I generally avoid cliffhangers if I can help it, unless the next book is already out. All I can do is hope she writes the next one rather quickly!
Strong worldbuilding and great story
