Publisher's summary

In The Ant and the Elephant, The New York Times best-selling author and Olympian Vince Poscente weaves a clever parable around profound concepts that can have an immediate impact on your life and the life of your organization. With his trademark wit and wisdom, Poscente shows us how to focus on and redirect the subconscious mind in order to accomplish the goals we consciously strive to achieve.

This empowering story illustrates that understanding the dynamic relationship between conscious and subconscious thought is the first step toward becoming a leader who can transform individual performance. But harnessing the power of the subconscious is an experience commonly fraught with frustration.

Even the most competent among us battle the subconscious fears, habits, and attitudes that obstruct authentic leadership. In fact, adjusting our own patterns of behavior as a means to motivate others is not unlike an ant trying to convince an elephant to change its ways.

Meet Adir the ant and Elgo the elephant. Like two teammates who must work together to realize a common goal, Adir (our overly conscious hero) and Elgo (Adir's stubborn and instinctual subconscious partner) must work as a single creature in order to reach the Oasis, their vision of paradise in the African Savannah.

Their simple story is a powerful metaphor designed to bring out your best performance as a leader so that you can do the same for those around you.

A "business of life" classic, The Ant and the Elephant is a must-listen for all who strive to transform their workplace through inspired leadership or merely reach their full potential as individuals.

Finally on Audible!!

I LOVE this book and the wisdom it contains!

Everyone should hear this story in it's audible form. The first time I read it, I enjoyed it so much I had to encourage the author to get it on Audible.

I have to say, the experience listen to the story takes it to a whole new level for me. 10/10

I look forward to listen again once every month to reassess my thoughts and the direction of my Elephant.

Thank you, Vince!

The misperception that my conscious is stronger and more in control than my subconscious.

I like that this challenges my preconceived ideas and then gives me tools to undo the damage already done. :)

This book has a good story behind it...

I’ll be honest here, it took me a few tries to get through the first few minutes of the book. It was boring. I jumped to another Audible that I had already listened to, and after a few minutes, I came back to The Ant and the Elephant. After a few more minutes, I stopped it once more. I gave it another try, maybe two more tries, and then I was hooked.
The story is one of victories and failures, with a wise coach helping out when necessary. It’s easy to digest the lessons, because they are slowly entering the story itself.
This book would be great for anyone, from kindergarten up to retirement. Even past retirement.
I chose the 5 star rating, because it deserved a five star rating. Just like in the story, about failures and victories. I too failed this book, by not giving it a chance. But the book came out victorious, because it was the lessons that kept bringing me back.
Please have your kids listen to this, it will let them understand the powers of our subconscious.
