Shetty grew up in a family where you could become one of three things—a doctor, a lawyer, or a failure. His family was convinced he had chosen option three: Instead of attending his college graduation ceremony, he headed to India to become a monk, to meditate every day for four to eight hours, and devote his life to helping others. After three years, one of his teachers told him that he would have more impact on the world if he left the monk’s path to share his experience and wisdom with others.

Romi Neustadt is a mom of two, a wife, a daughter, best-selling author, speaker, entrepreneur, and coach. What's more, she's achieved these things without a staff of 10, the ability to sleep two hours a night or driving herself batsh*t crazy. She's figured out the key to having it all: Priorities, babe. In her second book, Romi provides a no-BS blueprint for women to figure out what to focus on and what not to. She explains why saying yes to everything and everyone really means saying no to the things that matter - to your goals, your dreams, and your true self.

She loves me. She loves me not. I’m not good enough. What’s the use. Why does everything happen to me? These are the words of the chronic over-thinker - or more specifically, these are the words of the voices in their head. Like any other affliction, there is a cure! It will only require a careful examination of your habits. A small price to pay for the pervasive haunting of your mind. This audiobook teaches how to disregard everything and just live in the moment. This is the beginning of how to cultivate mindfulness.

This imbalance can affect our daily personal and professional lives. Sometimes, our adversity can be a barrier; we should not be held back by our mistakes or traumas. On the contrary, these should be the foundation for thriving and succeeding.

Story
Self-care is everywhere - but sound bites on this trendy subject tend to focus more on face masks and bubble baths than on its key objective: mental health. Formerly at BuzzFeed, Borges helped popularize the self-care movement in the first place, and her book distills the “self-care internet” into an A to Z list with over two hundred entries - from soul-searching prompts to simple pick-me-ups. Listeners can tailor their own routines by choosing among Borges’s strategies, which cover four distinctive realms of self-care: physical, mental, social, and spiritual.

Behind our stress, clutter, and confusion is an infinitely spacious place one might call stillness or joy. This is our natural state of being, but we usually don’t experience it, because we are caught in a web of material possessions, desires, and fears. Our clutter often becomes another member of the family that we feed, house, and lug around. In Your Spacious Self, author and professional space clearing expert Stephanie Bennett Vogt shows us that it’s not our stuff but the holding on to it that creates a force field of stuck-ness that clouds our perceptions and paralyzes our lives.

Story
The practice of mindfulness is most often touted for its profound mind, body, and spirit benefits. Shelly Tygielski here shows that mindfulness can also be a powerful tool for spurring transformative collective action. In a winning combination of memoir, manifesto, and how-to, Tygielski shares her evolution from a Jerusalem-born child of traditional Sephardic Orthodox parents to a middle-class American suburban youth who questioned her faith to a young executive in corporate America.

Relateable for us ALL
Such an effortless and insightful read! I finished reading it in a day and plan on coming back to it for many more reads. Burnout is something we all experience. It's a common thread on our journey, always trying to come home to this point of balance, whatever that may mean to you. This book brought me comfort, that we are not alone in this feeling. Vanessa articulates this experience so thoughtfully and provides practices that support you on your way back to balance, which is a lifelong journey. Highly recommend!

For such a time as now this book is a must read
The Art of Balancing Burnout is not just another self help book. It is a transparent look into someone else who has been there but didn’t stay stuck there. It is real life , real solutions that allow oneself the permission to see a different view of themselves bringing opportunity and hope.
