About this listen

We were all at the party. Which of us wanted her dead?

As the smoke from the bonfire spirals into the night sky and the cool drinks slip down our throats, none of us can take our eyes off Lacey. She dances in the dunes, her long golden hair damp from her late-night swim, her smile dazzling, her blue eyes closed.

Everyone who is close to Lacey sits by the smoky fire. Her adoring boyfriend, who holds onto her, perhaps a little too tightly. Her little sister, always in Lacey’s shadow, sifting fine soft sand through her fingers, never taking her eyes off Lacey. And me. Sad and full of rage, after an argument forced the man I love to leave the party early.

When the fire burns out, we stumble away from the beach, along the cliff path—faces burned by the wind, hearts full of secrets. But Lacey never makes it home. The next morning, her body is found in the sand dunes, a heart-shaped locket missing from around her neck.

Who would have thought our beach party could end the way it did? Close friends gathered on the last night of a long hot summer—which one of us could have killed the girl everybody loved?

An absolutely gripping psychological thriller with an ending you will never see coming! Strap in for a twisty roller-coaster ride. Perfect for anyone who adored The Holiday, The Guest List, or Gone Girl.

Amazing!

Narrator Amalia Vitale did a phenomenal job. The Beach Party was absolutely fantastic. Lately, I’ve been reading a lot of Bookouture books and they’re all enchanting. This one is beautifully written. Highly recommend The Beach Party and will look for future Amy Sheppard titles.

Excellent

This is a wonderfully narrated and clever book.
It grabs you from the start and it doesn’t let you go. The characters are interesting, the protagonist is vulnerable and relatable and you root for her from the start.
The other extremely surprising and gratifying thing about this book (unlike so many others in the genre) is that it’s a TRUE MYSTERY with REAL SUSPENSE.
Part of the fun of this whole experience is all of the switchbacks, just when you think you’re starting to suss out who the killer is or what really happened to the victims in this story, you find out over and over again that nope, wrong again!
I love when this happens.
That’s how you know that you’ve actually gotten lucky enough to find a real well written mystery
with fascinating characters, a stunning location and an ending you will never see coming.
I can’t say enough how refreshing this book is.
I had fairly low expectations based on having been let down so many times by false advertising; books described as “unputdownable” or as “mysteries” or “grabs you and won’t let go” only to find that yet again you’ve been mislead.
This is a wonderful mystery, beautifully constructed and the narration alongside the podcast elements all make for a truly thrilling ride for the reader.
The narrator has such a beautiful voice, I loved listening to her. She is a pro and I hope to hear a lot more from her in the future.
Easily worth the credit, easily five stars

Great Read

The Beach Party was a great read by Amy Sheppard. Everyone at the bonfire cant keep their eyes off Lacey. She is dancing in the dunes with a dazzling smile and blue eyes closed. Everyone who is close to Lacey is there with her around the fire. When the fire bruns out, they stumble along the cliff path. Unfortunately Lacey never makes it home, her body is found in the sand dunes the next morning. Her heart-shaped locked is missing from around her neck. I enjoyed reading this book and cant wait to read more by the author.

great mystery

Great story about a small town mystery! Told in the somewhat style of a podcast. The characters were great however they are not deep or emotional. 5 stars because I couldn't stop listening! very easy to follow and keep track of characters.

What Suspense???

My mind numbed, listening to dull descriptions of hair and fragile skin and romping dogs. If there's a suspenseful story in here somewhere, and you find it, good on you. I'm slogging through for now...

Eh

The story itself wasn't bad. That narrator didn't help it. Ft almost monotone for most of it

Boring

I’m so tired of books being classified as suspenseful and psychological when they are anything but that. I’m also very tired of us getting compared to Gone Girl. I feel like audible Jessica what’s that in whenever there’s a book that’s classified as suspenseful to draw people in. Unfortunately I didn’t learn my lesson soon enough as I purchased this with a credit. This book is so boring, it’s not suspenseful, it just sucks.
